Fabian's POV
My watch alarm beeped, 4:30 am. I got up out of my bed and grabbed a sweater. I heard loud snoring from the other end of the room which confirmed that Eddie was still fast asleep.
I crept out of my room and made my way upstairs. Nina would never talk to me again if she knew I was sneaking around the house once a week to hang out with Joy. But it's better this way, I can date Nina and Amber won't give Joy a hard time. I missed hanging out with her.
My hand grabbed the attic door knob and twisted it open; Joy must have already gone up. I walked up the stairs and into the main attic room. No one had been in here since Vera left. I found the compartment leading to the roof of the house and went up.
"Hey Fabes" Joy greeted. Around her lay a bunch of board games, this week was her turn to pick.
"Hey, good to see you" I smiled at her. She stood up and I gave her a friendly hug, she winced slightly.
"Oh, Joy I'm so sorry" I said, she still was sore from being hit with that blast from Senkhara.
"That's alright" she said.
"Joy, I never got to properly thank you for saving me" I said and looked at her in the eyes.
"No problem, don't worry about it" she said smiling "I didn't want to see you get hurt, you mean too much to me". I missed her so much, seeing her being herself made me so happy.
"I'm lucky I have a friend like you" I said. "What game will it be this week?" I asked as I sat down across from where she would sit. Last week we played chess and I almost beat her.
"How about senet, Mr. Egyptian-Man?" she questioned with a laugh. I knew I didn't stand a chance.
"Alright, third time's the charm right?" we looked and each other and laughed just like we used to.
I really missed Joy. We set up the game and began to play.
