Chapter 1: Arbiter's Grounds.
The situation was getting out of hand. The young hero Link and the imp Midna were in Arbiter's Grounds, an old temple in the middle of a desert. It was full of dangerous creatures and quicksand. Link was in a dark room with some of the floor solid ground, some quicksand. Link took out his lantern and lit up his surroundings. He walked halfway across the room, avoiding the quicksand, when two groups of stalchildren rose out of the ground. They were white skeletons with dangerous looking spears. Link drew the Master Sword and took out his shield, attaching his lantern to his belt. He easily dispatched the first group with wide, horizontal strikes. The monsters exploded into nothingness. Then he turned to the next group. Link blocked a few jabs with his shield and stabbed at a stalchild. He defeated it, but another one slipped past his guard and cut far side of his right thigh. The pain was almost unbearable. Link yelled in rage, and defeated the rest of them with a viscous spin attack. Blood poured out of the wound. Midna, who had been hiding in Link's shadow, came out and winced as she looked at the cut. It wasn't too deep, but it bled badly and restricted Link's movement to a limp. Link sheathed his sword and put away his shield, but he kept out his lantern.
"Ouch!" said Midna. She sounded worried, her ruby eye (the other one was covered by the Fused shadow on her head) was full of concern.
"You need to find some hearts, and fast!" she said.
"Don't need to tell me that again." muttered Link. "I think I saw some pots in the room we went to before." He limped across the room, again avoiding quicksand. "They should have hearts."
Link got to the door and was barely able to open it, as he had to push it upwards to get through. Sure enough, there were pots, next to a basin of lantern oil. Link refilled the lantern and put it away as the room was well lit. He smashed the pots, and hearts came out. He walked over them, and they floated over his head for a quick second. Then they disappeared along with his wound. While the hearts may have healed his wounds, but he was exhausted. He called Midna.
"Yes?" asked Midna, coming out of Link's shadow.
"I know we've only been through two rooms, but can we go back to Kakariko Village and rest up?" Link asked. "I haven't slept since my fight with King Bulbin. I'm pretty sure it's dark out, too."
"Sure." said Midna. "Just get out of the dungeon and we can warp to Kakariko."
Midna went back into Link's shadow, and Link made his way to the entrance. When he got out, he was right. It was pretty dark out in the desert.
"You ready to warp?" asked Midna, coming out of Link's shadow once again.
"Yep." answered Link.
Link turned into his wolf form, and Midna warped themselves away to Kakariko Village.
