A/N Jane and Maura are together, and going on a rode trip to Maine for the weekend. How would Maura react to being cut off while driving? We are about to find out.
A/N This is a one-shot fic that I came up with while driving and someone ended up cutting me off. Curse them. *angry fist shake.*
"Jane, really?" Maura huffed and gave a soft laugh as she removed the detective's hand from her lap. Shaking her head she once again focused on the road, her composure never failing or faltering, much to Detective Rizzoli's dismay. It wasn't that Jane was trying to distract her, but she wanted something to do other than listen to the orchestra music that Maura had insisted on starting this trip with.
"Mauraaaa, I'm bored. Can't we listen to…not dead people music?" It was Jane's turn to huff, and whine in that playful manner she had. She pushed thick locks of brown curly hair from her face and moved her hand slowly to the radio, hoping that if she made no sudden moves, it would work. It didn't.
Without looking away from the road, or the traffic coming and going, Maura laughed and shook her head. "Just because you're moving slowly, does not mean I can't see you trying to change the song. And this is not 'dead people music' as you put it. It is classical Orchestra, it has proven to calm many people in various scenarios, like this one." With that, Maura gently, and playfully, batted Jane's hand away from the Radio.
"Hey! This isn't a stressful environment! And aren't all the composers dead?" Jane smirked, and rose a brow in Maura's direction as she awaited an answer.
"Well…yes. It is true that the are all dead, but I don't see-"
"See! Dead people music!" With that, Jane moved quickly to to unplug Maura's aux cord from her phone and plug it into her own and began to play It's My Life.
Just then, some jerk decided to cut Maura off, without signalling or waiting to see if they had time. Luckily, Maura responded quickly, tapping her breaks enough to slow as to not hit the man. She opened her mouth to explain her annoyance but then huffed and pursed her lips. Jane was looking at her expectantly, waiting on her to do more than just pout, but when Maura simply glanced at her with that adorable look on her face she was the one to respond. "Asshole. That's what signals are for! And look where you're going next time!" With a nod and a smug smile on her lips, Jane sat back and enjoyed the sound of Maura trying to stifle a laugh. "I dunno what I was expecting you to say." Jane said with her own laugh as she looked at Maura before continuing. "You don't like profanity, or obscene gestures, so of course you'd only huff. And of course it would have to be the cutest damn thing I've seen." And with that, Detective Jane Rizzoli let out a huff and shook her head.
"What else could you expect to be the response of Doctor Maura Isles, the cutest woman on the planet? Nothing I tell ya, nothing."
