It was a bright and sunny day in Dharmaville. Juliet had taken the day off. Her bulging stomach was the only hint that she was seven months pregnant. Otherwise, she was as stubborn as always.
At the moment she was on the ladder, cleaning the attic. She was humming one of her favourite songs on the radio, before she hastily stopped and reminded herself that the song hadn't been written yet. She had one ear open for the sound of the front door, because she was certain that Sawyer wouldn't approve of her choice of activities.
At that point, Sawyer was walking through Dharmaville, stopping to pick a sunflower and waling in the front door. He placed it in a vase, and called, "Hello?" to the empty household.
"Hey," said a voice behind him. He turned around to see Juliet hastily closing a door. He raised his eyebrows as he took in Juliet's dusty overalls, and feather duster, which she quickly held behind her back.
"Well, Blondie, if I didn't know better, I would've thought that you were cleaning the attic. So, what were you doing, that could've gotten so dusty?" Sawyer asked sarcastically.
"I was...." Juliet stalled.
Sawyer walked over to her and took out the feather duster from behind her back.
"No more ladders while you're pregnant, deal?" he asked.
"Deal." Juliet sighed.
The next day, Sawyer came home to Juliet in front of the house with some big boxes. He groaned.
"What is this," Sawyer asked, walking over.
"The baby crib," Juliet replied.
"And you're trying to get it inside yourself?" Sawyer protested.
"Yep," said Juliet. "And before you say, 'you shouldn't do that cause you're pregnant,' I just thought that since you weren't around to do it, and...." she trailed off at the sight of Sawyers expression. "Besides, you never said anything about big boxes. You only said no ladders and big dishes and stuff."
"Yeah, well, Blondie, I think that this would fall into the 'stuff' category, dontcha think?" Sawyer said sarcastically.
Juliet groaned and walked inside.
The day after that, Juliet washed the dishes, and sorted all the food out from the fridge, and rearranged the furniture and back again. By the time that Sawyer came home, she was reading on the couch. He nodded and said, "Glad you're finally listening to me."
Juliet squirmed with guilt.
At night-time, they were finally ready to go into bed, and Juliet was thinking that he might not figure out. She was in the bathroom, brushing her teeth, thinking about her luck. But then-
"So, Sunshine, what did ya do today?"
Juliet sighed. She told the truth, reluctantly, though.
When she finished, Sawyer sighed. "Sonuvabitch." He murmured.
Juliet sighed. "Ready to go through this again tomorrow?"
Sawyer nodded. "But no boxes, ladders, dishes, or rearranging stuff, Ok?
Juliet nodded. Sawyer left to go to their bedroom. Juliet slowly looked up into the mirror and sloly smiled wickedly to herself.
He never said no playing on the swing set.
