Percy was tired. Really, Really, Really tired. And he had a legit excuse.
First of all, Annabeth was in San Francisco so he had no mojo.
Secondly, he had had two hours of sleep last night because of studying… and skyping with Annabeth, but mostly studying. Thirdly, he'd had two tests, and had to resist bashing the face of the school popular jock, very tiring indeed. And Fourthly, he'd been trying to relax and let loose at the beach but…
With a party of seven year olds, six year olds, and a high school field trip…. No relaxation at all. In fact it was way worse.
Lately, it seemed that Percy was having a hard time controlling his powers. During the war, he'd been training, constantly on and against the clock. But after it? To be honest, he was kind of slacking. Unless you count school… his seaweed brain had had enough of math… and science… and history… and all subjects.
And while he physically slacked off, his control had seriously lessened.
It seemed when he was really tired, and really irritable, any water around him would explode. The toilets during self-study, the showers after P.E., and recently… the beach after he got hit in the head with a Frisbee.
He didn't mean to almost drown everyone but… if it hadn't been for some really good life guards and his own hand water powers, some people could have gotten seriously hurt…. Or died.
So right now… he was walking home, planning to collapse in his bed and sleep the rest of the day away, hopefully free of worries and monsters and six year olds. However, life just wasn't going to give him what he wanted… in a good way though.
As he trudged down the streets of Manhattan, he ran into someone…
"Oh fudge! Look, I'm sorry, I'm not watching where I'm- come on!"
He yelled as a little cloud placed itself over him and began to rain. Really, he had more control over his powers than this!
"First the miniature tsunami and now this… this… personal rain cloud?!"
However, his ranting was cut off by a much needed hug and kiss on the cheek. The person he'd accidentally run into was…
"Annabeth?" He said softly.
"Who else Seaweed brain?"
As the rain poured down, he continued to hug her. This was just what he needed.
"I love you." He mumbled into her shoulder.
She pulled away. Percy started to protest but Annabeth, naturally being smarter than him, wriggled her way out of his grip. Pulling out an umbrella, she put it over the both of them.
"Why do you have an umbrella?" He asked.
"Your mom said you've been pretty down lately, and know you and your connection with water… it was a safe choice."
"Wise girl." He said.
"Seaweed brain." She replied before kissing him.
