Autumn Leaf

Autumn Leaf

I do not want to look at the leaves turn from vibrant green to polished gold

It reminds me too much of myself

They turn that way because they lack the water the roots refuse to give

The roots of our lives can be so cruel sometimes

And the bad thing is one of the two main ones is too blind to notice

I am the autumn leaf

Though I speak not, it is impossible for me not to tell

Every living creature that holds destruction

Though some of them do not notice

That you are those small roots that I hang upon though I should not

You feed me my water and I give you life

However when it starts to get cold

You casually cast me away to save yourself

And I just causally fall to the ground and let you

But I have something to tell you this day

That I am not brown but gold

I and not red but crimson

And though you cast me away I slowly go with pride

Because you will need me in the spring

Slow as the sun though

One snowy winter you will see

One tiny gold-crimson leaf

Resting on a tree.
