Stupid Leaves

This hadn't published correctly. It only took me 8 months to realise.

Carrie POV

I ran down the hall away from where Miss King was ranting on about who knows what and generally taking her bad mood out on everyone. It was nearing Christmas and some idiot had put mistletoe up everywhere which most crushing girls were taking advantage of.

Avril had been trying to get Oscar under the mistletoe with her all day but so far to no avail. I was hoping that I would get to be under the mistletoe with Oscar who I secretly had a crush on but I was definitely not going to be as drop dead obvious as Avril. I turned the corner to see Avril dragging Oscar under a piece of mistletoe that was hanging from the corridor ceiling and was shocked to see Oscar wasn't resisting. Then Avril kissed Oscar right on the lips in front of the majority of people who weren't suffering Miss King's wrath.

I turned and bolted back in the direction I'd come from, no longer caring about Miss King just wanting to get away from the spectacle that I just witnessed. "Stupid leaves." I muttered.

Oscar POV

Oh help. Avril was heading towards me for the tenth time today presumably to attempt to use mistletoe as an excuse to kiss me. "Avril!" I yelled as she grabbed hold of me and proceeded to drag me toward the sprig of mistletoe suspended from the ceiling. I stopped resisting, hoping that Avril would be satisfied with one kiss and that Carrie wasn't watching.

I'd had a crush on Carrie for quite a while and while I was pretty sure that she didn't return my feelings I still wanted a chance if she did. Avril's lips touched mine but as soon as I tried to break away she pulled me back towards her. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a flash of Carrie's hoodie. I pushed Avril off me and ran after Carrie. I knew Carrie would automatically head towards the gym when she was upset so I took a shortcut, hoping to cut her off.

Carrie POV

I raced for the gym but halfway there Oscar emerged from a corridor before turning to face me. I turned around to run the other way yet again but before I could I felt a warm hand grasp my wrist.

I could easily have got away but both Oscar and I knew my heart wasn't in it. Oscar looked up towards the ceiling before pointing up at a sprig of mistletoe. He leant towards me with a grin on his face before kissing me. It was short and sweet but I knew as long as I lived I'd never forget it.

Oscar POV

"What are you doing tomorrow night?" I asked casually, though with excitement bubbling in my chest, as I smiled down at Carrie. "Depends." Carrie answered with a smirk. "Would you do me the honour of accompanying me to the cinema?" "It would be my pleasure." She replied. Their lips touched once more as their pencils began flashing and together they walked, hand in hand to the lift where Rose greeted them. "Took you long enough."

It's late so I apologise for this.
