I'm Sam, I'm eleven. I only turned eleven on the ninth of June and now month along some strange woman is in my living. "Sorry, who are you again?" my mother asks once more. The woman smiles politely "Minerva McGonagall. I am the Headmistress ay Hogwarts." My mother looks to my father and they both look at me. "So what would Sam be doing there?" my father asks confused. "Studying magic, your son is a wizard." She replies. My mother drops her cup and it smashes on the floor out of shock. "I'm a what?" I look at my parents. "Did you know about this?" I ask them, which they shake their heads at me. "No they didn't." Minerva responds "you are what are known as a muggle born. We have many Muggle born wizards at Hogwarts." I look at her and think about this. "How do I know this isn't a joke?" I ask her. "Like this." She takes out her ward and points it at my mother's cup lying smashed across the floor. "Oculus Reparo." The cup pieces itself back together like a jigsaw. I pick it up and see that there isn't even a crack. "I can do that?" I ask her. She nods and smiles "with some practise." She hand's me a letter and get up to leave. "I hope to see you again Sam." I smile at her and see her out.

I sit on my bed munching on some toast while listening to my mother and father down stairs talking about Hogwarts and if I should go or not. I look at the letter in my hand, I shake my head and pull of the seal of the back. I pull out two letters, and the last paper looks like a form. The first one reads:

Dear Mr Warren,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

I sigh and look down at the paper. 'How do I send an owl?' I read the next paper which reads: UNIFORM

The last paper is a form, I fill it in with all the data required, I fold it back up and place it in an new envelop, I write 'Minerva McGonagall, Hogwarts.' I look at the letter and look around. "How do I send this?" suddenly there are three sharp taps on the window. I get up and peak around my curtain. There's a light brown owl staring at me from behide the glass. I open the window and he perches on my window ledge. I slowly stroke his beak and neck and he nuzzles my fingers back. "Hey, little guy." I give him a tiny piece of my toast and hold up the letter. "Would you make sure Minerva gets this?" he eats the toast and takes the letter from me and flies back out of my window.

I lie on my bed and try to imagine what Hogwarts is like. "Sam." My dad knocks on my door. "yea dad." He pokes his head around my door. "I filled the paper work in and I've sent it." I say before he can say anything else. "I was gonna say me and your mother think it would be a wonderful experience." We smile at each other. "You should get some sleep son. We're gonna celebrate tomorrow." I nod and pull my blanket over me as he leaves and turns my light out. "Night dad" I call out too him. "Night Sam" I listen for the patter of his feet going down stairs and close my eyes and fall to sleep.
