I wrote this on a whim after reading a bunch of Axel/Larxene fics. I think I'm starting to become a fan of the pairing.
A few subtle references you might not get, I wrote this in the universe of my friend Jess' fic. If you like Larxene/Axel, go read Lies Upon Our Lips by ilyfromjess ! LIKE NOW. D:

I do not own Kingdom Hearts, Hunchback of Notre Dame, or Les Miserables.

Larxene's face was twisted in a kind of disgusted pout as she flicked through the pages of the book she held in her slim hand.
"Notre Dame de Paris," she murmured. "You have disappointed me." She continued to pass each page by with a swift sweep of her hand, until the book seemed to slam itself shut, the cover catching on her fingers. The slight jolt of pain excited the Nymph, pulling her from her trance. Larxene lifted her eyes to glare at the intruder of her personal space.

"Axel," she growled.
"What? You weren't exactly reading it. The pages will be all crooked at the sides if you keep doing that." His red mane of hair swayed as he cocked his head cheekily at her.
"I'll have you know, I respect fine literature. Not moralistic garbage." Larxene tossed the book to the side; Axel catching it before it hit the hard floor. She shifted from her position on the velvety couch of her room, swinging her legs over onto the arm and lying back - knocking off Axel's elbow in the process.
"This look familiar to you?" He asked quietly, looking up at her. Notre Dame de Paris lay in his hands, and he peered over at her from the other end of the couch.

When she didn't reply, he sighed and sat on the back of the couch. A light push would be enough to make him fall and injure himself, but Larxene wasn't in the mood. It wouldn't bring her the pleasure it typically did. She instead stared at his feet, which dangled a way above her face.
"What's so bad about it?"
"It exaggerates the capabilities of humans.."
"A young girl falls in love with an outcast. Doesn't sound like a human's incapable of that." He retorted, glancing at the blurb for reference. "This 'Phoebus' sounds like a right dick."
"Aren't you a polite one." Larxene drawled. "Phoebus envies the hunchback because he has captured the heart of the beautiful Esmerelda. Phoebus wants her heart for his own, and perhaps her body. Whatever shell of a body would remain after he had his vile way with her."

A grin spread across the blonde's face.
"I like him."
"Captured the heart, huh?" Axel's bright eyebrows furrowed. "Hm."
Shell of a body..

He leaned over so she could see his face from where she lay.
"Relena?" His lips moved slowly, as though he didn't want to frighten her.
Larxene snarled, pushing upwards on his foot and letting him crash to the floor, the cracking of his skull sending guilty chills through her.
"Perhaps Les Miserables will prove more promising.."
