Merry Halloween
Gomez lifted little Wednesday up to place the pièce de résistance on top of the tree; a 12th century human skull. Tiny ghosts, pumpkins and bats were trickling down the dead tree.
"Ah! This is the best Halloween Tree yet!" exclaimed Pugsley, but why does Wednesday always get to put the most important decoration on it?"
"Why Pugsley" questioned Morticia "Did ye forget who's privilege it is to place the landing strip on the roof for visiting relatives?"
"Yes Mother, should I go do that now?"
"Give it another half-hour" offered Gomez "The wind is really howling tonight and those brooms aren't as aero-dynamic as they used to be". "Why don't you little deviants go help Uncle Fester bring up the rest of the decorations from the basement. The soured-apple punch should be ready soon".
"Oh boy!" said both kids in unison as they raced out of the room.
Morticia was in the conservatory making sure that Cleopatra knew her cue when to spring up. They had decided to make her the jack-in-the-box. That was sure to be a hit with the children.
"Tish my love, guess what I've found". Gomez was dangling the poison oak cache above her head.
"Bubala, you know you don't need excuses to receive my kisses" purred Morticia. With that Gomez felt the coldest lips pressed to his and it was heaven. "Now, if you will excuse me I need to change into my party dress".
"Yes, yes" agreed Gomez "And I'll go check on the 'find the needle in the cobra pit' game".
Tree decorated - check. Landing strip laid and lighted - check. Game centers in order - check. Grandmama was still adding the disclaimer sign to her 'guess the spell' booth. Some people get a little testy when the ill-effects last longer than anticipated. Finally all was ready for the annual festivities just in time for the first guest to arrive; which happened to be Cousin Itt.
"Merry Halloween" shouted a welcoming Addams Family.
