Authors Note: As my first Grinch fanfiction was / is so popular I thought I'd come back this year with a new one! I hope you enjoy and please leave a review if you'd like to read more.

Whoville was always busy especially at this time of year, The town tree was alight and the star was shining bright at the top, young Martha-May looked out her window and up to mount Crumpit, she knew that he was up there… alone. It was a cold night and she wished she was with her old friend, she hadn't seen him for 10 years when he suddenly took a mad turn and ran away, not only did she loose a friend that day but most of her Christmas Spirit of course she knew she had to stay strong and keep up a good appearance but oh how she longed to see him just one more time.

The Grinch sat alone in his cave, completely forgetting the fact that the dreaded holiday was just around the corner. He was alone as he always had been, He heard the garbage chute dumping a load of rubbish outside his door, How excited that made him. There hadn't been a rubbish load for a few weeks, He jumped up off his seat and opened the door to the cold air, he saw the snow and his sinister grin turned to a disappointed frown, snowflakes fell on his head and he gave a groan, he stood at the top of the mountain to see whoville lit up with bright colours and lights, he saw that tree and rolled his eyes, then he was disrupted by a rummage from the garbage, he turned and witnessed the rubbish moving and a whimpering noise, he picked up a box to discover a small dog no bigger than his hand, did a small smile grow on his face? The puppy was like ice and was shaking violently, he snuggled the puppy and held it close to his chest, He went inside and sat back down on his chair with the dog on his lap

"I guess you'll need a name…" This was the first the Grinch had smiled for a long time, he looked at the tiny canine sitting on him.

Marthas parents were sound asleep, she knew she needed out of this house even just for half an hour, everything was too much right now and she always found this time of year difficult. She put on her coat and snaked her way out of the house, the cold air hit her and she let out a relaxed sigh, she loved the snow it was her favourite type of weather. It relaxed her and made her calm, She watched the snow fall and the flaked fell on the tip of her nose, she smiled… a real smile, The village was asleep and silent. No who to be seen, no noise to be heard. She walked through the cold streets and looked at the sparkling lights all over the houses. Her footsteps made crunching noises on the ground, the sound was music to her ears. She looked up to that mountain once more knowing that she just had to get up there, without hesitation she started her journey. Time had passed and Martha was finally there at the top of mount Crumpit. Her heart was thudding in her chest as she stood before the door, 'what ifs?' flew around her mind, did she go back home after that trek? or did she build up the courage to knock on that door? She looked down at the beautiful town below, It was so beautiful, she had to catch her breath, she turned to look at that worn out door, taking in a lungful of air she puckered up the courage to knock on that door, her fist slammed hard against the wood making such a loud bang, this was it there was no turning back now, her actions had been made. All she wanted to do right now was run back home to Whoville, The Grinch made it clear he wanted no company by running away to the deserted mountains where no one in their right mid would attempt to make such a journey to have company, Again she looked down onto her beloved town and let out a shriek as the warmth of his long fingers grasped her forearm, it was pure shock and disturbance that caused her reaction.

"Alright! What Do You Think-," He suddenly stopped as he looked at the intruder, he could never forget such beauty and those pale blue eyes, He blinked a few times, was this really happening? "Martha-May?"

"Hello" Was all she could let out, that was all her body was letting her say, The two looked at each other for a good moment In that moment The Grinch had no worries or cares, the past was no longer in his head all he could think about was the beauty before him, Martha stared deep into his yellow eyes, the same childish feeling still there. Snow fell on top of them as they were in silence, standing at the top of that mountain. Without realizing their lips were together in a sweet moment of bliss.
