The Chronicles of a Good Girl

Chapter 1: Some Things Never Change

The alarm clock rang at the bedside table, awakening one misty eyed teen from her deep slumber. She quickly got out of bed, and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Hermione hadn't really changed over the years, still having a mass of frizzy hair. She opened a cabinet from her vanity and took out a brush and tried to tame her hair into soft curls. Ha, no such luck. She gave up after a while and started getting dressed.

Today was the day in which Hermione had to board a train at King's Cross on Platform 9 ¾. This was her last year attending at Hogwarts and she was determined to make the best of it, even if she had to make nice with Draco Malfoy. As she thought of him, a shiver ran through her spine. She didn't hate Draco, she despised him. In her opinion, his immaturity had increased every year.

But, nonetheless, she would still have an opportunity to thrive at Hogwarts as Head Girl. She had received a letter from Dumbledore, informing her that she had made Head Girl this year. She almost blacked out the first time she had read the letter. All those years working herself to gain respect from teachers by her school work had finally paid off.

Hermione gathered her things and met her mother at the driveway by the car. Loading the car and getting in, they drove off to King's Cross. When they got there, her mother had dropped her off and she went through the barrier for Platform 9 ¾. She was instantly greeted by Harry and Ron with warm hugs.

So, Hermione did you make Head Girl?" Harry had asked Hermione excitedly. Unable to keep her self control, she busted out saying, "Yes! I made Head Girl this year, but I still don't know who made Head Boy." "Well, hope it isn't ferret boy, that would be one hell of a year for you Hermione." As Harry said this, they all burst out laughing at the thought of Malfoy getting Head Boy. "I think we should start boarding the train." Hermione said. "Yeah, we should start looking for available compartments."

The Golden Trio soon made its way towards the train and went through the crowded aisles to an empty compartment and went in. The train whistled and began moving forward. As soon as the train started to leave the station, one particular blonde-haired boy made his way towards their compartment, pushing people out of the way to get through. He opened the compartment door, now facing the three people that he hated ever since his first year at Hogwarts.

"Oh, why its Potty, Weasel, and the Mudblood." Draco had said with a smirk. "Malfoy we don't need any of your immature remarks and name calling. Why are you starting to agitate us this early in the school year?" Hermione said in a bored tone. "Don't flatter yourself, Granger. McGonagall told me to fetch you for the Heads' meeting."

At that point, Hermione wanted to faint. No way, can Malfoy get the position of Head Boy. He's irresponsible, cruel, and manipulative. The teachers must have been bribed or on "something" when they elected Malfoy as Head Boy. But on the other hand,Hermione knew that Draco always came in second if you compared their grades and certainly this was another way of creating house unity. "Stop stalling around and follow me to the Heads' Compartment, Mudblood!" At that, she shot a gloomy look at Harry and Ron andfollowed Draco out of the compartment and into the crowded aisles of the train.
