"The Gathering"
Drabble inspired by the question: "How did Ramza's old company get back in his party so quickly?"
~o~
"When our leader ran away, we were disbanded. The Hokuten had no use for lesser nobles who carried a tarnish upon their unit, so we were quietly shuffled out into the cold. No one cared."
"Ramza changed his surname and fell into the employ of one Gafgarion. The rest of the company scattered to look for work; we do not have enough coin to live on if we try to follow our leader in his self-imposed exile. Besides which, it seems that he wishes to be alone for a time."
"We will honor his wishes in this matter, though we have all sworn to look out for his safety."
~o~
"Half of our number have found work as caravan guards. Nafina says that they will pick up news whenever the merchants stop by Dorter. I will continue to follow Ramza as best I can."
~o~
"I cannot keep up with this. I've taken a job to make ends meet, to keep coin flowing. There is enough to spare a few extra coins to hire that Rad fellow to keep an eye on our beloved commander. The boy may be simple, but he understands the language of money."
~o~
"They are late. Rad indicated that their job would take them out to the monastary to escort an important person elsewhere. I've been waiting to find out where their destination lies. If it will take too much time, I may have to relocate to another city for the duration."
~o~
"Picked up their trail. Too late to catch up to them, it seems. Left a note for Nafina and the others."
~o~
"Blast!"
"Rad has kept his side of the bargain, helping to keep Ramza alive instead of beheading him at Gafgarion's command. I am thankful that I had the foresight and circumstances to hire the lad. Otherwise things may not have turned out so prettily."
"Delita is alive. What does this portend?"
~o~
"Ramza moves again. He accompanies a mechanic to Goug on a rescue mission. The esteemed Ser Agrias Oaks has lent them her two subordinates on this venture, but if they intend to bandy more than words with their opponents, they will need more swords."
"It is time for our company to reassemble. I will send word to the others to meet us at Goug."

AN: Boredom, combined with reading some excellent FFTactics fanfiction, is responsible for this drabble. Since it is a drabble, it actually got finished, instead of mouldering on my hard drive like the other two or three FFTactics tales that I've started, but not published.
Yes, the little questions bug me sometimes.
Read and enjoy.
