Disclaimer: I do not own the Selection Trilogy

Good Luck

He stood on the balcony that led out from his and Amberly's bedroom. Amberly was currently in the bathroom getting ready for bed so he had some time to think about the Selection competition that would begin tomorrow for his son. He had been in the same position his son was now in, given a time limit to find a wife, the next queen of Ilea. Hopefully one of the girls would win his heart as Amberly had won his.

Tomorrow by this time, the palace would be hosting 36 extra people within it. 36 complete strangers that he knew only vaguely from the information on the forms that had been submitted as applications. He was pleased with his selections. Maxon was sure to fall for at least one of them and get over the other girl that he had been friends with, that princess.

He had already dismissed every girl that was lower than a three in his mind. Those girls did not truly have a lot to offer unless they were liked by the public too much to let them go early. Most of the others had contacts that would be beneficial to Illea should they be able to procure them.

Amberly had been the special case during his selection and had managed to gain them some peace from the south with their marriage. He had loved her though. She was the only special one from his Selection, the only one that he felt truly stood out. He had been lucky that his father had allowed it due to her connections with the southern people.

He hoped the same thing happened to Maxon, he hoped that his son fell in love with a girl that had contacts that would help Illea. If that did not manage to happen, he felt truly sorry for his son but Maxon would have to stand up and fight for the girl he had fallen for. He would have to fight to show how much he cared for the girl and hope that the girl had some sort of charisma or charm and would be able to manage to rule Illea as she would have to if she returned Maxon's love.

The latter route would be tough and would test his son in a way he had never been tested before. His own choosing had been an easier task and not one that had garnered much resistance from his father or their advisers. He had only been thankful that he had not been forced to marry someone he did not love.

The bathroom door opened and he smiled at his beautiful wife. She smiled back and he walked over to hold her in his arms.

He wished his son good luck and hoped that Maxon's heart lead him well as his heart had done for him. He hoped that one of the girls managed to capture Maxon's heart so that he would have the opportunity to live with the person he loves for the rest of his life.
