Endearments

Also known as Severus Snape's penchant for words that start with 'I'. A question raised by his bondmate (gender or identity is deliberately vague!) leads to a short and humorous discussion.

"You know what occurred to me today?"

Severus looked up at the question.

"You never call me by any standard endearments; what passes for an endearment for you is 'impertinent brat', 'infuriating child', and 'incompetent idiot'." A grin met Severus' sour look at the perceived insult. "Oh, but I like those terms! No, the thing I realized is that you have a penchant for words that begin in 'I', actually. 'Impertinent', 'incompetent', 'infuriating', 'incessant' and 'indeed'."

Severus scowled playfully at his bondmate. "Indeed," he drawled, scowl deepening at the chuckle the word evoked from his younger partner. His lips twitched involuntarily as he thought of another favorite word of his. How had he never noticed before that he used so many words starting with 'I'?

"Insufferable is a good word as well," he said, and smirked at the full laugh that garnered from the person he planned on calling insufferable for many more years.
