Title: Poems and Last-Minute Flowers
Pairing: Toshiki/Sakura
Warnings/Notes: Um. I'm a sap. And this idea has been in my head to either draw or write for awhile. XD Toshiki would try so hard to be all romantic and charm Sakura the way he thinks all women must love to be charmed. Good thing Sakura's smart enough to see through it and know it really is the thought that counts. ; I really also just wanted to write a pointless piece of fluff to make up for the angsty drabbles I've been doing lately. My muses are displeased.

His gift could have been in there somewhere - lost beneath all of the others.

MakubeX's, Ginji's, one from Juubei and Kazuki... Even that stupid joker had gotten her flowers and candy, and Toshiki was left staring at the stuff with a sense of failure because, go figure, he'd not known what to get Sakura for Valentine's Day.

So there he was, stuck with a red rose bought with the last of his money at the last minute, and some stupid poem on his lips that he stumbled over when he tried to recite it to her and she just... stared at him blankly as though trying to figure out just what he was doing.

Thankfully, the poem was in English and Sakura couldn't understand most of it. And, also thankfully, he'd refrained from trying to write his own for her like he'd originally tried (and failed) to do.

Upon finishing, he stared at her puzzled face for a long moment, looked at the gifts sitting nearby, sighed and turned around to stalk off.

Failure. Again. Goddammit.

And suddenly Sakura's arms were around his waist from behind, but loosely enough that was able to turn around and face her in surprise. She was smiling up at him in that beautiful way she had, and it almost made him blush.

"Sakura...?"

"Don't ever change, Toshiki," she said lightly, and leaned up to kiss him.

Failure never felt so good.
