AN: Hi! Essentially, this is the prologue to the story. Thanks for reading!
"Do you know why you are here, Gerudo?" Zelda interrogated, her cold blue eyes squinting with pure hatred.
The Gerudo stayed utterly silent, looking down at the shiny marble floor of one of the many interrogation rooms in Hyrule Castle. Silence immersed the two for quite a while.
"I will assume you are hard of hearing, for you surely wouldn't dare disrespect me, Gerudo. Once again, do you know why you are here?" the princess inquired, pacing back and forth across the small room.
Once again, the young Gerudo woman merely stayed perfectly mute, her face expressionless.
A wave of fury rushed through Zelda's slender body at the arrogant prisoner's insubordinate behavior. She let it pass before she spoke again. To show anger was to let them know that they were getting to you. Collecting herself, she explained, "You are here because you are guilty of treason against Hyrule and the Royal Family itself. Normally, such serious crimes are punished with death, however, I am feeling particularly generous today. If you tell me where your miserably pathetic band of thieves were running off to when the Guard captured you, then you will walk away with your life."
Once more, she did not respond.
"Perhaps, you are slow," Zelda whispered quietly, horrified at such blatant disrespect, "so I will explain your situation to you. The Desert Guard has already captured numerous Gerudo tribes; they have been tried, and the thieves have, depending on their status, either been imprisoned or executed. There are only a few major tribes still eluding the Guard, but they will be found soon enough. Your tribe, on the other hand, is so miniscule and weak that it hardly matters whether we catch them or not. We only desire to catch them and assimilate them into Hyrule. We truly do wish for their well being; do not worry, we only punish the leaders who corrupt them with death. However, you will not even be punished if you tell us where they are hiding. I do not truly hate you; I pity you and your situation," Zelda lied, wearing a mask of sympathy. "You will not be betraying your race or sending them to their doom by telling me where your division is currently hiding."
"You lie, and you will never get an answer out of me, Princess," the Gerudo muttered after a rather long period of silence.
"Very well," Zelda said briskly. "If you do not wish to cooperate, then I do not have to grant you the privilege to live. I do wonder how you can live with yourself, Gerudo," Zelda chided, her voice steadily rising. "Honestly, how can you live with the fact knowing that you helped such an evil man rise to power twice? Do you have no shame? How can you live with yourself knowing that you make a living off of others' misfortune? It is truly a pity that such people exist in this great land!"
The Gerudo merely snorted, still keeping her head to the floor.
"You dare snort?" Zelda whispered, horrified at the Gerudo, before promptly withdrawing her sword from it's case. "Raise your head, Gerudo, and accept your fate. May the Goddesses have mercy on your soul!"
