Colby had turned bright red when they brought it up. Ian had the decency to give him a moment to collect himself, but Nikki took it as a sign that she should get right up in his face so he could feel the breath come out as she laughed.

"Big bad Colby Granger isn't going to run scared from the best night of his life, is he?" she said, running her sharp-nailed hand on the back of his neck, sending a shiver down his spine. She was almost predatory in that moment.

Colby looked back at Ian, not sure if this was for real. Ian was sitting casually as if nothing interesting was going on, but Colby could see that his eyes were darkened as he gazed at Nikki, that Ian was getting turned on by her aggression, by her danger. Colby wasn't even sure what kind of relationship Ian and Nikki had together, but he could tell even here that it was messy and tangled and searing hot.

And Colby never was one to run scared.

In the morning, Colby woke up to more sound and motion than he was accustomed to. Nikki had turned on the TV to watch tennis, and Ian was walking in with take-out from a local diner, apparently at Nikki's insistence. They kissed sweetly as he set the containers on Nikki's counter.

Colby rubbed his eyes and wondered where his clothes were, but when they saw he was awake, they gave him warm smiles and told him breakfast was getting cold.

He found his pants but no shirt, but hurried so they wouldn't have to wait. As he sat on a stool, Nikki gave him a kiss on the cheek and a firm punch on the shoulder. "So how do you like my 'femme fatale'?" she asked, laughing, "Was I dangerous enough to lure the boy who loves bad girls?"

Colby tried to grimace as he blushed but it was still half a smile. "What are you saying, Nikki, that you played me to get me into bed?" he asked, only half joking.

"Not at all," Ian said, "She generously offered you one of your kinks."

Nikki nodded, and Colby had the distinct impression that they expected him to thank him or something.

"Don't get me wrong, last night was great, but I don't need my partners to be dangerous."

"Nothing wrong with it," Nikki said, "You like deadly beautiful people who have good hearts but exist in the moral gray. You like that boundary line between hero and something else. You get off on it. And that's cool. I can play the role just fine. Which you already noticed. And Ian... well, Ian's fine self is just made for you."

Ian grinned at him over his coffee, a dangerous grin, and the wolf look went right to Colby's dick.

Dammit. He hated when Nikki was right.
