A Ride in the Sky
"Honey, can you please tell me why you insisted I take the afternoon off?" Jackie asked as she and Nick were driving.
"Nope, it's a surprise." He told her.
"I really didn't want to take the afternoon off you know."
"Why? Your students will be fine with Chelsea."
"It's not Chelsea, she was already committed to another teacher, I got a sub I've never heard of."
"Well it's only for the afternoon, I'm sure they will be fine, and if not Lisa will help your sub." He said, trying to ease her mind.
"Where are we?" Jackie asked as Nick finally stopped the car.
"You know how you said you've always wanted to ride a hot air balloon?" Nick asked, referring to a conversation the couple had had a couple weeks ago.
"Yes." Jackie answered.
"Well we are going for a hot air balloon ride." He responded with a smile.
"Oh wow, cool, so this place gives private balloon hot air balloon rides?" She asked.
"Yep."
"I'm excited, but I bet it costs a fortune."
"It's not too bad." He insisted.
He grabbed her hand and walked over to where they needed to sign in at.
"Hi, I have an appointment for a hot air balloon ride for 2, it's under Stokes." Nick told a woman behind the counter.
"Alright, follow me." She said with a smile.
Pretty soon Nick and Jackie were in a hot air balloon with a guy named John who was operating the balloon.
"This is incredible." Jackie told Nick as they were soaring high in the sky.
"Yeah this is pretty cool. I would have never would have thought of this had you not brought it up." He told her.
"I'm just full of good ideas." She told him with a smirk.
He laughed.
"You know what would be really cool?" Jackie asked.
"What's that?"
"Doing this at night, floating over the Vegas Strip, wouldn't that be gorgeous with all the lights?"
"Yeah it would but they don't fly over the strip." He said.
"I know but if they did it would be awesome. When we fly I always like to fly into Vegas at night just to look at the lights."
"Me too." Nick agreed.
The couple enjoyed the rest of their amazing ride in the sky in a content silence, more than happy that they were together.
"Thank you for setting that up Nicky. I loved it." Jackie told him as she reached over and grabbed his hand as they drove to her parent's house to get the kids once their ride was over.
"You're welcome, I enjoyed it too, thanks for going with me we'll have to do it again sometime." He told her.
"For sure." She agreed.
Jackie loved and appreciated that Nick was so romantic!
