Title: Smiley Rating: G POV: Mai

I sighed heavily, breaking the menacing silence. I turned a page of my book, continuing to read what I thought was going to be an interesting story…

But it has yet to satisfy me.

Lying on a stiff sofa wasn't the most comfortable position ever, especially as Zuko had his arms wrapped around my hips, his face nuzzled into my side. I couldn't tell if he was sleeping or not. His solemn state was presumed to be of the slumber type.

I couldn't help but smile a little, even when he's sleeping, his innocence still radiates. The shaggy mop of hair surrounded his face, making almost impossible to believe that there was a human head under it.

I chuckled slightly. I purposely tossed the book over the side of the bed. The thudding sound didn't startle him at first. But then, I could feel his face shift, and a heavy sigh came out from under the mop, rustling hairs.

"Morning," I said softly.

Sliding his head up, I saw his eyes, they were still drenched with exhaustion.

"Mmphnh," he muffled into my side, accidentally tasting fabric.

It tickled; I laughed by reflex. He paused, his eyes lit up after hearing my laugh. Zuko lifted his head up; a warm smile appeared on his face.

"It's nice to see you smile," he said softly.

To him, making me smile was a great accomplishment, and a wonderful reward. However, I couldn't help but indulge in my cynicism.

I stifled my laugh, regaining my poise, "Yeah, well… Better take a picture— so it will last longer."

Uhurhurh, corny title matches the corny-ness of this drabble. -- This was my first attempt at anything shippy/semi-romance... :B So, I hope it was enjoyable?
