Summary: Hawkeye x Roy Romance. One-Shot Request Drabble. She hides behind icy walls, and he can only touch her fire while she sleeps.
Note: This was written as a prize for 2000th post at "Drown the World in Tears' forum. She won the prize and this is what she picked, though at first she wanted it to be Roy x Ed... Unfortunately my rule against writing Slash got in the way of that.
The summer sun left a hot square of light on the soft white sheets of the bed and across the smooth naked back of his lover, causing her tattoo to glow as if lit from within. It was like fire, Roy thought as he traced the image with his index finger, stopping where the image was interrupted by the scar. Bending down and overshadowing her back, he placed a gentle kiss on it, with the half-hearted hope of perhaps smoothing it away with just his love alone. But when he pulled back the blemish remained and he sighed, then placed his finger on the other side of the scar to continue tracing the transmutation circle that was beautifully engraved on her back. He went slowly, reading every inch of her as if her soul was written in Braille upon her skin, drinking her in through the pads of his fingers.
Then she stirred, and the sun went behind a cloud. He drew his fingers away slowly as if against magnetic current. She would never allow him such delicate intimacies while awake, and it killed him every time she pulled away after their joining, cold eyes betraying the icy walls within.
