It wasn't supposed to end like this. Wash wasn't supposed to be on her knees in front of Nathanial's son. But this whole thing hadn't turned out the way they had expected, so why should this be any different?

"You helped the Shannons escape. Where are they? Tell me which way they went and I might let you live." Lucas murmured in that low voice of his. She could barely contain her scoff at his blatant lie. Rising from her knees, she gazed steadily into his eyes, Nathanial's eyes, she thought to herself. He had received those from his father, but nothing else. He didn't deserve to bear the name Taylor, that sorry excuse of a man.

"You have three seconds before I shoot." She simply stared, thoughts of Nathanial running like flashes through her mind. The multiple times she had to stitch him up, because god forbid he look out for himself once in a while. The line he gave her about needing her to remain behind, because if something happened to her, who would be there to fix him up? His plan backfired slightly, she thought with a grim smirk. All the missions beyond the gates they took. All of it ran through, none really sticking enough to distinctly recall but just enough to give her a hazy sense of all their time together. She remembered vaguely the line she gave Shannon to tell Nathanial. She hoped he remembered to tell him, and that Nathanial didn't do anything stupid. Besides Shannon, he was their sole hope. But no, he would realize where his duty remained, much like she had accepted hers minutes earlier. There wasn't a better way to go out than in the line of duty. She knew that, but it didn't stop her flash of regret as she silently accepted the fate that was about to become hers. All the things she wouldn't get to do and see, with Nathanial at her side. Mentally shaking those thoughts away, she reluctantly concentrated on the man in front of her.

"One. Two" He paused, giving her a second to confess.

"You know you have your father's eyes." She stated calmly, voice wavering only slightly. And right before the bang went off, accompanied with a flash, she did see Nathanial in his eyes. A poor, broken replica, but a replica nonetheless. And then all was gone.

Hardest thing I have ever had to write. Oh my, I watched it with my sister and she was sobbing as soon as we turned it on! My first Terra Nova, so please, please, please let me know what you think! Reviews are amazing!
