Chapter 1

My heart was racing. I looked down into his chocolate brown eyes. "Please, don't... don't do this! You don't have to!" I said, tears streaming down my face. "I have to, I don't deserve to be here." he said in his soft, sweet voice. "Of course you do!" I screamed in a hoarse voice. He shook his head and looked down at the lava below. I slid back a bit, or else I would fall down too. The white marble pillars that lined the bridge were shattered and strewn across the bridge like Lego blocks. The soaring heat made me sweat and slide forward a bit.

I grabbed onto a broken piece of pillar and pushed myself back. "don't worry, Michael!" I screamed, using all my remaining energy to pull him up. To be honest, he was (a bit) heavier than he looked. Then again, he was older than me by quite a few years.

I kept on pulling, trying to find a foothold on the smooth marble, but he was too heavy. Of course, he tried to help by reaching out to grab a pillar, but I just couldn't. I was too weak. My arms gave in and I slid forward, almost sliding off the edge. I was panting and sweating, exhausted from the "battle" that occurred moments earlier. I took a deep breath before, once again, trying to pull him up.

I tried again, using up all of my remaining strength to pull him up, but it was no use. His grip loosened as he slid down my now aching arm. I panted heavily, memories flashing in my mind. It felt like yesterday I met the greatest friend anyone could imagine. His wiggling made me snap out of my dreams. He sighed, his eyes telling me to let go. I snapped my eyes shut, tears threatening to fill my eyes.

He slowly loosened his grip while I tightened mine. "Michael, please!" I said, tears falling down my cheeks and onto his. I wiped my tears away with my other hand. "Goodbye," he whispered as he let go, slipping out of my death grip. "Michael!!" I screamed in despair as he fell into the lava below. I stood up, allowing the tears to freely fall down my cheeks. Ever since I was ten, I knew him. Now, I'm alone.

Since I have nothing else to do, I'll tell you everything.
