A/N: The title isn't working; I wanted it to be "After the battle between Lord Death and Azura; Liz", but the semi colons don't work. :( So pretend it was that. I'm sorry!
Sorry for the shortness, but it was long on word.
Disclaimer: I don't own Soul Eater or any of the characters.
Liz was out on the balcony of the mansion, staring out at the ruins of what had been Death City. Most of it had been destroyed from the battle between Azura and Lord Death.
Azura had escaped. They were too late to stop him. Things would change now, wouldn't they?
Liz thought about the fun times they had shared before all this Kishin business. She remembered the first day she had gone to school with Kid and Patty. She remembered the pyramid of Anubis. Liz reflected on how scared she was back then, and how scared she was on the boat with the ghosts. She was just a scaredy cat, and sometimes, she hated it. Why couldn't she be less of a scaredy cat? She was once one of the feared "Demons of Brooklyn"!
"Even demons can get scared sometimes, I guess…" Liz muttered to herself.
But now, things would change. There wouldn't be as much time to have fun times with the group with a Kishin on the loose. Liz would have to protect Patty even more, and they would go on even more missions. The fact that Lord Death hadn't been able to defeat Azura scared Liz. She had always believed that as long as he was here, they were safe. She had assumed that he could do anything. But even those as strong as him couldn't do some things. Now, they were in constant fear of being attacked by Azura. Liz knew she was no match for him alone. Never would be. But maybe, with Kid, Patty, and everyone else, they would be. They would have to take him down, or the world would go down. When did I start thinking about the good of the world? Liz thought dryly. Ever since she became Kid's weapon, she had changed. For the better. That's what she thought, anyways. The old Liz would have scoffed at the idea of saving the world. She hated the world, for putting her and her sister at the mercy of the world. The world made them roam the streets, carving out their own danger filled lifestyle.
But the world had been kind too. She had met Kid and got to live in a mansion, didn't she? She changed, and Patty was safe. They had fun times. They had friends. The world wasn't so bad after all, and Liz would do everything she could to keep it safe.
Liz watched two men lift a wooden beam. She remembered the destruction that the battle between Lord Death and Azura had caused. She knew there would be another battle one day, and it would destroy more. Everything would get destroyed at one point or another. What takes a lifetime to build only takes a moment to destroy. But that was the cycle of life.
Liz watched the beam fall down and the men yelling. They called for more people, and more came to help them. She watched as they lifted it up again. Liz smiled. Even if things got destroyed, they would always get fixed. If a few couldn't do it alone, they had friends to help them. You weren't truly alone in the world, after all.
Liz was glad she was in the middle of all this, even if it was an extremely bad situation. Because somehow, things would be all right again. After all, the good guys always win, right?
A/N: So, the "What takes a lifetime to build only takes a moment to destroy" comes from Falsetto from Eternal Sonata, and "The good guys always win" comes from L from Death Note. This is more a one shot on her life I guess, and whatever her thoughts were at the time.
Review please! :D
