Silence

Alone in darkness, unmoving in its cool caresses,
I stand.
Slight sound as I stalk though the night,
Heard by none.
Darkness enveloping me within its sheltering folds,
I dash,
I slice.
Thump, the body falls.
Thump, my heart beats steady as I grimly clean my blade,
Ever silent.
Thump, I become one with shadows.
Thump, inky darkness threatens to overcome my tainted heart.
Close my eyes and push it back, through will alone I resist.
Knowing the darkness will someday overcome, I wait,
Wallowing in the cool protection of shadow.
