woop. This is REALLY GROIN-GRABBINGLY SHORT but who cares, right? I felt compelled after reading a few amazingly well written things and lamenting that I will forever suxorz. Much love for Lee & Gai whose likenesses I WORSHIP but do not claim. onward-

~ THE LIMITS OF BOREDOM

"Lee."

A pause.

"Hm?"

"King me."

He sighed and half-heartedly placed a previously discarded red checker piece on top of Gai's intruder piece.

He found it preposterous for a piece that was once a lowly pawn, a minion, part of the infantry, just like all the others- to become a king by simply reaching the back wall of the enemy territory.

It was like a child playing capture the flag. Even if the flag was not, in fact, captured, a child with enough daring to run across the line, circle around and return untouched was as revered as this so-called king was now.

But this was beyond the point. And Gai was beyond letting Lee win for the sake of sanity.

"That's another for me." Gai announced. Lee replied by shoving his pieces back into the box.

He'd had enough of these damned board games. His body- though bruised and broken- still craved action. To hell with checkers! Same to Chess, Go, Clue and even CANDY-LAND could rot in hell!!

Lee was beyond frustrated. Beyond depressed. Beyond anything other than pure, unadulterated boredom.

"Gai-sensei," Lee breathed, exasperated. "I'm going outside. I'm going to run ten laps around the limits of Konoha on all fours. Then, I'm going to challenge a group of kids to a game of TACKLE capture the flag. That is, unless, you promise me you will NEVER. EVER. Come here with a board game ever again."

Gai smiled.

"And I don't for a second doubt you'd keep your word. I promise. No more checkers."

Lee cursed inwardly. Tackle capture the flag sounded really tempting right about now. But it could wait.

Gai had yet to bring in a Ouija board...

~ yep. that's it. I'm waiting for the inevitable "OMG LEIK MAKE TEH NEXT CHAP SASUNARU OMGGG!!1 ^_~" o__o *sigh* luv (really) CS
