Silent Grip

I think of you

As I watch the water sway back and forth

With fake peace and tranquility.

I watch it,

Wondering,

How you always manage to do it.

Be so close that I can stretch out and touch you

Yet still be so far.

Just like the water.

I bend down and touch it,

Submerging my fingers

In its icy embrace,

Sending millions of tiny ripples

Swimming in all diections.

Always silently running from my grasp.

Never letting me

Get any closer.

Never being able to

Touch the same water...

Or see the same you...

More than once.

I think of you

As I cry my silent tears.

As they merge with the water

I can only hope

That as my tears have reached the water

That I can someday see you.
