Pointless Staring

There it was again. The looks. People couldn't stop staring. It was a big problem. And it always would be. But what was it? She never managed to figure it out. Pointless staring from people she had never seen before in her life. And she had checked. Every time someone looked at her she went to the nearest window and looked at herself. There wasn't anything wrong. Nothing unusual. Her curly brown, or ginger, hair hanging just above her shoulders. And her outfit never seemed to be too bold, just plain jeans and a t-shirt, nothing wrong with that. But still people couldn't stop looking at her. The worst part; they were not staring at her they where staring beyond her, like there was something on her back.

Donna just kept on walking. What else could she do? She could stop the guy who had just been looking at her, but she didn't have the confidence. Quite weird for a girl with a big mouth. She always made sure people knew what she was thinking. But when it came to the staring she never seemed to know what to say. One day she would figure it out. One day.

As she walked in the door, she could sense that something had happened.

"Mom? Dad? Granddad? Is there anybody home?" No reply. That was odd. There was normally at least one person home. If not her mother still found a way to yell at her for being late. She was a grown woman, and yet, if she was late by twenty minutes her mother would nag her to death. Donna realized in that moment, like she had realized so many times, she needed her own place.

After checking every corner of the house she went into the kitchen to get a drink, having a big mouth made your throat sour. She could see someone from the corner of her eye, and Donna froze in her step. There had been no reply from anyone as she yelled through the house. No one had been in the house. So who was this. What could she do? Where the hell was the telephone, why did she always forget where her mobile phone was? She could hear the persons breath getting closer, this was it. She needed to do something. There was nothing she could do before something happened inside her head, an excruciating head ace. And beyond that she remembered nothing. All blank. All dark.
