Emperor Lelouch, the most powerful man in the world, stood quietly in the balcony of his imperial chambers in the Tokyo Settlement's Imperial Palace. He is still wearing his imperial robes and they caught the light of the pale moon shining in the star-filled sky. Lelouch is deep in thought, his purple eyes staring out into the bright lights of the settlement. His brooding was disturbed by the sudden voice which came from inside his room.
"Are you anxious about this?" C.C.'s voice is flat, almost monotonous.
Lelouch did not turn around but he recognized the voice and replied: "Anxious? Are you joking, C.C.?"
C.C. shook her head and smirked as she sat in his bed. His words seem to be true but she knew better.
"That's just your pride talking." she teased.
The young emperor can't help but smile. The "witch" can read him like an open book.
"You can't just barge into someone else's private space, C.C. You have your own room after all." Lelouch remarked.
"Changing the topic won't help you, Lelouch." C.C. smirked again.
Lelouch sighed. C.C. can be obnoxious at times and he hated how she seems to enjoy interrupting his contemplation.
"What do you want?" Lelouch asked, his voice showing some degree of annoyance.
"I just want you to answer a question. Are you anxious about this?" C.C. coolly replied as she laid down the emperor's bed.
Lelouch was quiet for a moment as if thinking about his reply. After a few seconds, the emperor spoke up.
"Perhaps." Lelouch's short reply was stated as if it was his last breath.
C.C. stared at ceiling. She did not show any acknowledgement on whether she heard Lelouch or not. With C.C. silent, Lelouch turned around to face her. But before he could say anything, C.C. broke her silence.
"Then why not stop all of this? Live and search for your own happiness. You still have time." C.C. suggested.
"We've discussed this aboard the Avalon, C.C. We cannot stop now. So much blood has been shed already, so much tragedy. Such sacrifice must not go to waste." Lelouch replied as he approached C.C. and sat on the edge of the bed.
C.C. sat up beside Lelouch. She gazed at the emperor and she noticed something. His hands. They were clasped together. Trembling.
"Lelouch..." C.C. began.
"...I'm...afraid, C.C." Lelouch admitted, his voice unsteady and an uneasy frown forming on his face.
C.C. stood up and went in front of Lelouch. The emperor's head was bowed down, fear clearly visible on his slouched form. The green-haired girl knelt down and wrapped her arms around Lelouch.
"Whatever you do Lelouch, I'm always here. We are accomplices...No...we are..." C.C. strayed off, searching for a word fit to describe their relationship.
"Whatever our relationship is, I'm thankful for it." Lelouch said, finally looking up and straightening up.
C.C. smiled. "You're welcome, Lelouch."
C.C. stood up and began to walk away. Lelouch stayed seated on the bed, his form still and motionless.
"Wait."
C.C. was startled by Lelouch's plea.
"You want me to find my happiness, C.C.?" Lelouch asked her.
C.C. turned around, her face showing a sign of confusion at the sudden question.
"I've found it already."
