"What do you want, Lex?"
She had said it in a calm and quiet tone, but her hatred was very apparent. A flash of lightning filled the barn as Lana turned away from the horse she'd been grooming, illuminating her icy gaze.
"What I've always wanted," he said, slowly walking toward her. "You."
Lana stood there, seething.
"And what makes you think I want anything to do with you?"
Lex stopped just in front of her. Lana swallowed, her face reddening.
"I know you, Lana. We understand each other." He traced one finger along her jaw line, causing her to stiffen. "You see, we're not all that different."
"I'm nothing like you," she said fiercely, glaring.

Lana sat up with a start, lightening once again flashing around her. She looked around. She wasn't in the barn. She was on the couch right next to a sleeping Clark. She had fallen asleep during the movie. It had all been a dream.
She leaned forward, propping her elbows on her thighs and her head on her hands. It hadn't been a dream; it had been a nightmare, one that she'd been having ever since that day she had Clark's powers. What scared her was the possibility he might be right about her. She knew there was darkness in her; what if she couldn't escape it? What if she turned into the monster she knew he was?
She glanced over at the man sleeping beside her. For both their sakes, she hoped Lex was wrong.
