Shinigami and the Countries
Prologue: Explosion
Duo groaned, pain coursed through his body. That explosion had really knocked him good. He wished the guys trusted his skills with explosive. Because they hadn't, the explosion had been big. He grimaced as he sat up. Looking around he had no clue where he was. He was in a field that had an outline of trees. Years of living on the streets and his training as a gundam pilot made him hyper alert.
One arm wrapped around his midsection Duo began walking toward the tree's he could hear traffic. It was morning the coolness and the dew gave that away. Unknown to Duo he was bruised, dirty and bleeding. So it's no surprise that a car that had spotted him coming out of the woods pulled up alongside of him.
Duo tensed ready to fight back. His free hand bruised subtly against his gun. The window on the passenger side rolled down.
"Hey! Stop!" The driver called as the car stopped. Duo was tense but he tried to relax. But somehow he didn't think this guy was going to try anything. Something deep inside Duo told him that.
The driver darted around the front of his car and stood before Duo.
Duo looked up, this guy was tall, strong, and his blue eyes sparkled. His blonde hair shimmered in the morning light. Something about this guy screamed home and safety to the American pilot.
"Dude, what happened? I'll take you to the hospital." The driver said. Duo noticed that this guy checked out the area subtly. Like a solider.
"It's okay. Nothing I can't handle" Duo said with a cheerful grin. He grimaced slightly. Okay maybe he was hurt more than he was letting on.
"Hey, Come on. You can trust me. A hero helps those who are hurt. And I'm a hero." The driver beamed.
Duo blinked at this guy. Man he was something else. He couldn't help but smile and relax. He trusted him. Heero would be disappointed. But Duo's instinct were the best. Duo held out his hand.
"Duo Maxwell." He said introducing himself to the driver.
The driver seemed to smile bigger and shook Duo's hand with surprising strength.
"I'm the hero. Alfred F. Jones"
