We both noticed it was starting to get a chilly the higher we went but the exile ration kept us going. The stars really looked beautiful tonight.
"Oi connie stop slowing down were almost there!"
I looked up and she was right.
We've been climbing this tree for what feels like a hour. I forgot what motivated us to but it sure as he'll was worth it. Being in the outer wall means I could die at any moment. But hey, if I die today at least I'll be with her.
"I don't mean to shit on the party Sasha but why don't we just use our maneuver gear to get up the tree?"
"BECAUSE Connie this is more fun and we can feel more accomplished afterward!...Ah yes we're here!"
I sat on the tree trunk next to Sasha and I got out a loaf of bread.
"Connie! W- where did you get that from!
She snatched the loaf right out my hands and almost regretfully split it in half and gave a half to me.
I love seeing her happy.
"I snuck some from the kitchen...I think squad leader Hanji saw me but she didn't seem to care."
"WHAT oh well at least Levi didn't see you you'd be dead for sure."
"I know...hey can I ask you of a favor?"
She nodded her but kept stuffing her face.
"Okay,so let's say I die before you-"
"NO okay look Connie remember our promise"
"I know I know but lets say I do...will you be the one to tell my parents?"
She shifted a little but finally nodded.
She looked at me and put her hands on my shoulders and opened her mouth.
"but if you do feel like you're about to die you have to tell me so I can die with you okay?"
She can't be serious.
"Come on Sasha you have to live you'll be fine-"
She put she hand on my mouth and looked me straight in the eye. In that moment I was scared shitless. Her glare is worse than Levi's.
"I don't want to live a life without you in it I- ...no not that, I mean I won't kill myself if you die before me but I'd prefer to die with you ugh I just-" She paused, breathed in, and said:
"Once we've defeated the titans I'll need someone to start a bakery with and help me pay for housing. I want that person to be you. Connie when were done with all of this we will get married. But don't worry, kids aren't a priority I just want to make bread with my best friend until the day I die. You make me happy Connie."
I removed her hands from my mouth and gave her my best smile I could. It wasn't hard since I'm already so happy. But I feel my heart beating so fast it makes me nervous.
"It's a deal Sasha, a-anything to make you happy. We will uh we'll start a whole chain of bakeries if you want...and I'll make sure to always have potatoes at home."
She grinned from ear to ear and pulled me in for a hug.
"Come on lets get back to camp Connie, it's probably past midnight. We can use our gear this time."
"Alright!"
And then we zoomed off tree to tree. During all that I realized something.
I am engaged.
But to Sasha Braus.
This is the greatest day of my life.
