ONE

It was my fifth year at Hogwarts, but Draco Malfoy's sixth. Harry told me to stay away from him because he was dangerous and mad over his fathers arrest. But I knew Draco in a new way. I didn't think of him as the man that everyone feared in Hufflepuff, the man everyone despised in Gryffindor, the man everyone supported in Ravenclaw, and the man everyone looked up to in Slytherin. Instead I knew him as the strong willed, loving, tender hearted gentleman who treated me like a lady and didn't care that my dearly departed father- Sirius Black- made me cringe away from him every time I heard his name or saw his face in the newspaper.

I knew Draco as the man who had no choice to carry out his fathers wishes, I know this because I've shared secrets with him over the summer when he held my hand and picked me up then laid me down on the blanket in the field by Malfoy Manor. I know this because he was honest with me and spent many days with me.

But before school started, he grew distant from me. I'd go to his house to see him look out his window at me, then walk away. He was pale and looked more sickly, which worried me.

"Lily!" Draco Malfoy said running to me.

"Draco!" I said running to him. I pressed our foreheads together and smelled him. He smelled like pine and fresh air with a hint of...how t describe it...with a hint of Hogsmeade.

Draco hadn't kissed me yet. I wanted him to, but he didn't. And I wasn't going to make the first move, that would be weird. There was a dark thick liquid trailing from his shoe.

"Draco, is that blood..."

I felt sick and then had a flashback. Sirius fell and his body made a broken sound. Blood trailed from his lip. Thick, dark, red blood. I'm brought back to the present.

"Draco, I need to go..." I say breaking from him and running to the carriage that will bring me to Hogwarts.

"Lily!" he yells after me.

I run and jump onto the carriage that Harry, Luna, Hermione, and Ron are on.

"Lily! Hello! How was your summer?" Hermione asks.

But I'm already gone.
