A/N: As with my little one-shot, Need, I decided to play around with some more significant Sherlolly dialogue. I love bringing new meaning to old words. Hope you'll enjoy. x
Busy
She had gone home early from the Bart's Christmas party. There really was nothing interesting beyond the first hour. It was close to eleven and people were getting sloshed. The degradation of proper conversation and the increasing rudeness of jokes were certainly not the Christmas atmosphere Molly had wanted. Well, where was she to have gone? There no longer were any Christmas dinners at Baker Street, not since Sherlock had gone. Molly made the decision to quietly slip away and grant herself a few restful hours of proper Christmas.
When Molly got home, she slipped her key into her door and realised to her horror that it wasn't locked.
I can't have forgotten to lock it, she thought to herself as she walked cautiously in, making sure to lock the door behind her.
"Hello, Molly."
Molly dropped her keys in fright as she frantically searched for her light switch. When her nervous fingers managed to find it, the lights came on and there she saw sitting on her sofa, with his back ramrod straight and his eyes dark and beautiful, was Sherlock Holmes.
It had been two years since she had last seen him. He looked the same. And yet, there was an added hardness to his jawline, as though he hadn't had a restful moment in years. In truth, he hadn't. And that's what had brought him here.
"What are you doing here?" Molly whispered, not daring to approach him.
Sherlock got up and strode briskly towards an anxious Molly. Reaching for her, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her hair and the side of her face, breathing her deeply in as he tightened his embrace around her.
"Why are you here?" Molly asked, biting her lip to stop it from quivering.
Sherlock pulled away from her and tried to peer deep into her shy eyes. He then tilted her chin up so as to stop her from averting her gaze. When his eyes could finally meet hers, his mouth lifted into a smile before bringing his face to hers and kissed her slowly and thoughtfully.
"Everyone else was busy with Christmas." he whispered, before leaning in to kiss her again.
