summary: rapunzel always was prone to nightmares. but now she has eugene to keep her safe. one shot!

Rapunzel shot up in bed, her body dripping with sweat. This nightmare had been different. More... malevolent.

She was singing, and brushing her long golden hair. Rapunzel was sitting on her balcony, her long hair by her side. She was singing her song, the one that made her hair glow. It was dark out, the moon and stars shining. Suddenly, she hears a scream.

Rapunzel whips around, her hair flying. Mother Gothel was in the doorway, holding a glimmering knife to Eugene's muscular neck.

"No!" she cries out loudly.

Mother Gothel snickers, and grins evilly.

"Time to watch him die," Mother Gothel laughs, and begins to drag the sharp blade across his neck.

Rapunzel rushes forward to his limp body, tears escaping her eyes.

"Please, Eugene, no!"

Most of her nightmares consist of Gothel killing Eugene the same way she tried to kill him in the tower, but this dream was different.

She's breathing heavily, her chest rising and falling with each breath she heaves.

It's only a dream, she tells herself.

Nightmares of Gothel murdering Eugene have plauged Rapunzel ever since she saved his life in the tower.

Rapunzel feels something warm on her cheek, rasies her hand, and realizes it's a tear.

"Blondie?" she hears a murmur from beside her.

Sniffling, she looks to her side and notices Eugene resting on his elbow, gazing up at her, a concerned look in his eyes.

"I'm okay," she mutters. "Just a bad dream."

He sits up at this. "Tell me."

She lays down, and snuggles into his broad chest.

"Mother Gothel was trying to kill you," she tells him, her voice shaky with tears.

His arms tighten around her. "Baby, it's okay. You're safe. I'm safe. It's okay."

She begins to sob, scared of her nightmares, yet grateful he's alive and with her.

"I love you Eugene. Please don't ever go anywhere," she sobs.

Eugene pulls them up into a sitting position, he's sitting crosslegged, her legs are wrapped around his waist.

"I'm never going to leave you," he tells her with sincerity.

He cups her cheeks in his palms, and places a warm kiss on her forehead. "I love you," he says.

She sighs, and hungrily places her lips on his.

Their lips move together, a mass of heat and passion.

He lays her down, and begins to lightly trail his fingers up her torso.

She raises her hips, urging him on.

Eugene groans, and kisses her harder, their tongues tangling together.

"Please," she mumbles. "Make love to me."

He groans again, and begins to lift her tank top over her head. Once that's out of the way, Eugene sprinkles kisses along her chest, her tummy, her collarbones.

She lifts herself up a few inches, and unclasps her bra, letting it slide down her shoulders.

He smiles and kisses her again.

"I love you," he says. "So much."

She grins, and shimmies out of her warm sweatpants, which he believes makes her look more beautiful than ever, of course, she's always beautiful.

Rapunzel slips out of her panties, and lays naked on their bed.

He's already shirtless, so he shakes his pants off too, and lays over her.

She utters a soft moan as he enters her, the feeling of him inside her is almost enough to make her go over the edge.

He thrusts softly the first few times, and then begins to pick up the pace.

They both groan loudly. She raises her hips to his, and lips connect to lips.

Nothing makes her feel as safe as he does, nothing makes her as happy as he does.

Soon, they both fly over the edge, and the aftermath of their exercise leaves them breathless and panting for air.

"I love you so much," she murmurs as he collapses next to her. "I love you, Eugene."

"I love you too, my beautiful girl."

And with those words, she knows that he'll be safe.
