Must proof stories before uploading… How you guys doing out there? I just finished reading another comic, visual novel. I mean visual novel; I keep forgetting it's a visual novel. They're so cool! Ash, you rock! Anyways, here's another part of whatever it is I'm doing. Enjoy.
I suppose I should write a disclaimer, not sure why though... How can I own Pokemon? If I did, I wouldn't be posting at all. I'd be buying stuff all day. Anyways... I do not own Pokemon or any characters that appear in it.
Drifting Away: Chapter 2
Misty found herself at a loss for words, walking side by side with the boy she once thought was dead through the streets of Cerulean. Somewhere over the years, he really had grown up. Ash stood taller than her, not my much but still it was something, considering she always felt that she was rather tall compared to other girls. It was even harder to admit it actually was Ash since he didn't have his old league cap on his head or the loose, casual clothes that he used to journey in. It was stranger still when he didn't offer a single detail of his whereabouts in the years before.
"What is it?" Ash asked, abruptly stopping.
"Huh?"
"You were staring…"
"Oh, I umm…" Misty stammered, averting her eyes away from his questioning gaze, "You've really grown, Ash."
He smiled warmly at the comment and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, "Come on, I'm still the same guy."
"Are you really?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Ash shouted unexpectedly, his smile being replaced with a scowl.
"Come off it, Ash! You've been purposely avoiding telling me about where you've been!"
"You won't understand," he stated flatly.
"Try me!" Misty screamed, unable to hold back any longer, "I deserve at least that!"
Silence ensued. An awkward silence that both were afraid to break. They shuffled their feet a little, hoping the other would start but no one did. It was then Ash sighed and whispered, "It was hard, Misty," his voice taking a drastic turn from where it had been a few seconds ago. "I've done things I'm not too proud of… Things I'm not sure if I want you to know…"
"It can't be that bad," Misty consoled, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"I… fell in with the wrong people at one time… The kind of people that don't like it when you try to leave, you know?"
"Ash…"
"I don't think I had a choice really joining or leaving…"
"What do you mean?"
"I was starving, Misty… I hadn't eaten in days and I really didn't see myself doing that any time soon. I just wandered around and by chance met up with… them. They offered me food and clothes and all of the things I haven't seen in such a long time. It was so hard to say no… So hard that I didn't."
"Ash, you don't have to tell me if you're uncomfortable with it."
"Thanks, Misty."
Again the silence fell upon the two but it was Misty this time who broke it, "Oh, I forgot! We have to go to Vermillion!"
Ash simply arched an eyebrow at her rather than actually replying.
"Brock and Pikachu are there!"
"What?" Ash questioned, his interest being sparked at the sound of his friends, "What're they doing there?"
"Well… Brock opened up a breeding center there! I bet they want to see you!"
"Okay, let's go to Vermillion then!"
