Carol stared forlornly into the woods. Most of the men had once again gone off to look for her precious Sophie. But Carol knew, in her heart, that they would find nothing. Call it a mother's instinct, but she knew that Sophia was not coming back breathing.
Unwilling to accept the truth, Carol shoved this idea, this impossible, unbelievable premonition. After all, just because they had not heard from her baby, didn't mean she had to give up hope.
