A Simple Crush
There is a difference between having a crush on someone and being in love.
When your're in love you cannot stop thinking about that person, and every thought in your head is them.
Just being in the same room as them makes you have butterflies.
And when you cannot be with them it's the worst feeling in the world.
If it was just a crush you would be able to let go and finally move on with
your life.
And if it was love, sometimes your're just too oblivious to see it.
Monica was in love with Chandler and could not let go.
He was her best friend that lived across the hall and made her laugh when she was sad.
The one guy she could tell everything to, good or bad.
It started out as a simple crush that gradually turned into something more the closer they became.
She would think about him so often that it physically hurt, and at night she would cry herself to sleep.
Monica would tell herself over and over that she had it under control and that the crush would fade sooner or later.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months but the crush never faded.
Unfortunately Chandler was in a committed relationship, one that seemed to hide his fear of commitment.
Her name was Kathy and Chandler loved her very much.
Monica was very happy for him just like a best friend should be.
She would see them holding hands and exchange small kisses as they sat next to each other on the orange couch.
Closure…It was what she needed to finally get over him. She was going to tell him how she felt so she could move on.
Sitting there like everything was alright but deep down she was a mess.
Today she would finally tell Chandler that she was in love with him.
She walked in the coffee house seeing him alone reading the newspaper.
This was her chance, her chance to finally tell him the way she felt.
"Chandler…I need to tell you something..." She could barely get the sentence out.
"Monica is everything okay?" He asked with concernment.
"I just need to get this out I've held it in for too long, Chandler I…I am in love with you."
He just sat there with a stunned expression on his face. Both not knowing what to say or do.
A tear fell slowly down her cheek.
Chandler brushed it away softly seeing the pain and sorrow in her eyes. He hated to see her cry.
"Monica I'm sorry but I am with Kathy…I love Kathy." He felt so heartbroken.
"Oh yeah Kathy is great…a great girl." She was attempting to keep a smile on her face.
"You're my best friend and I love you, just not like that I'm sorry..."
"That's okay." She hugged and kissed him softly on the cheak before walking out the door.
All she wanted to do was die at that moment, feeling sheer and utter pain.
She made her way to the bedroom and started to cry uncontrollably.
Chandler could not stop thinking about the conversation he had with Monica.
He looked over seeing Kathy sound asleep on her side.
How come he could not get Monica out of his head when there lay the woman he was committed to?
Why was it that every time he was having a bad day he would go to Monica for comfort?
What made him so naive to not see the signs of Monica's love towards him?
She meant the world to him, and it killed him to see her in so much pain.
It was always Monica.
He walked across the hall and softly knocked on the door infront of him.
She wondered who would be knocking on her door at this hour.
It was him…standing there in front of her feeling so much remorse.
"I changed my mind." And with that he kissed her. A soft delicate kiss that turned into passion and eagerness.
"I'm in love with you Monica, it's always been you."
Tears fled from her eyes, but this time tears of happiness.
It was a simple crush that turned into love.
The End.
