Les could hardly wait for today as Jack trusted him enough to show a new newsie the ropes. The young boy met a new kid in his class that needed a job. Les was happy to offer the job of a newsie to him.

"James," Les gestured to Newsie square. "This is newsie square where you buy your papes."

"Wow, it's so big! You come here every day?" James looked around before spotting the group of newsies. "Who are they?"

Led squealed before starting to drag James towards the group. "Those are the newsies! They're here every day. They sell here every day and are the coolest!"

Race spotted Les first. "Hey short stop, how's it going?"

So, you know how little kids think that older kids are the coolest people in the planet? Yeah, James was freaking out because this sixteen year old was talking to his seven year old best friend.

"James," Les gestured to Race. "This is Race."

"Nice to meet you," Race smiled. "First day?"

James was so shocked that he could only nod.

"It will wear off in no time," Race walked away from the two.

"That's Albert, Elmer, Mush, Buttons, Splasher, Mike and Ike. You'll know their names in no time. Trust me." Les pointed to individual newsies hanging around the square. "They helped with the strike."

"Les, is it true that you lead a strike? And won?" James stopped Les.

"Well, I didn't lead the strike. Jack did."

"Who's Jack?"

Les's face lit up and he started to once more drag James across the square. "I can't believe I didn't introduce you to Jack!"

"Come on Weasel, I know you missed me."

Les stopped a couple of feet short of a boy wearing a blue shirt. He was leaning on a counter by a man who looked fairly annoyed.

"If I said I missed you, will you go away?"

The blue shirt man grinned. "I most certainly will."

"I missed you."

"Missed you too Weasel!"

"It's Wi-sel!"

The blue shirt man grabbed a stack of papers before heading over to a boy with a crutch.

"Jack! Jack!" Les yelled and he ran over to Jack.

"Hey kid!" Jack picked Les up and spun him around. "Where have you been keeping yourself?"

"I had school."

"Is Davey back in school as well?"

Les gave him an enthusiastic nod.

"Well, you tell your big brother to come down and visit otherwise we'll send Spot to him. And no one wants Spot coming after them."

Les giggled before he gestured to James. "Jack, this is James. James, this here's the famous Jack Kelly! He once escaped jail on the back of Teddy Roosevelt's carriage. He also led a strike. And won!"

Jack let out a short laugh. "Sorry kid but I'm not Jack Kelly anymore. I'm the famous Jack Morris."

Les's mouth gaped open. "I totally forgot! Let me try again. This here's the famous Jack Morris!"

"There you go kid. And nice to meet you James. Les will show you the ropes but if you need any help, just come down to the park. Crutchie and I will be selling there today. Later kid. Later James."

Jack then helped up Crutchie and they started to walk away. James could see Crutchie push Jack a little after Jack said something.

"You know Jack Kelly?" James's face was one of awe because Les knew the famous man in the papers.

"Morris," Les gave a huge smile as he placed some coins on the counter. "His name is Jack Morris."
