Dear Israel,
My name is Susan. I've asked my nation – Poland – if he could give you my letter to you next time, he will meet you. Feliks asked me, why I'm writing to another nation. I replied that I want to tell you few things and that this things can't wait. My homeland only grinned and said that he will try. So I'm writing now to you. You might be a bit surprised that not a nation, but a single person is lettering to you like to other single person, but I hope, you will read it, because everything, I've wrote to you, comes from the bottom of my heart.
Let me introduce myself better. I live in Warsaw and I'm studying philosophy. I'm normal woman, who loves her country, even if this country isn't perfect.
I know, you must probably worry, what you can read next, but please – don't judge me by this few lines of entry. Now I will come to the point of my correspondence to you.
Since I started my education, I've never heard even single sentence about you or your people being pure evil. Nothing about Jews poisoning wells, making Passover bread from Christian children or wanting to set on the New World Order. From the kindergarten to the university I was taught not hate, but toleration and understanding. I remember, there was a really nice initiative made by my teachers to do a school trip to temples of monotheistic religions – Orthodox Christians, protestants, Muslims and – of course – Judaism. The priest in every temple was telling us about their religions and replying on our questions. I remember, I really liked it and it was really educative to be there and hear about all those things.
Also my parents didn't taught me Anti-Semitism. I know, people say that Poles sucked the Anti-Semitism with the milk of their mothers. But in the milk of my mother there wasn't even one drop of Anti-Semitism. In my house only critic of you and your people is based on the objective facts.
And also none of my friends had said anything Anti-Semitic. At least I haven't heard them saying such things.
I have my own mind. I'm not judging whole nation by actions of few. I'm far from spreading hate towards others. I want to live in good, peaceful world. So every comment of my countrymen, who are saying that you want to destroy Feliks or that no Jew had ever done anything good, I find stupid and frightful.
That's why I was thinking that term "Anti-Polonism" is just meaningless term, they're using to spread their hate towards you and in which they're believe deeply, blinded by their detestation. But lately I'm starting to believe that there is such thing as Anti-Polonism, just like there is Anti-Semitism, Russophobia, Francophobia or any other kind of racism. I'm starting to realize that there are people, who would say about me all bad things, just because I'm Polish.
I know that most of your people connect Poland with Holocaust and death camps. I know some of them hate my nation even more then Germans. I know that they consider it as backward, or even one big graveyard. And I know that's because they look at Feliks through how he was in the past, but not how he is now. Oh, Israel. They sometimes even don't know that Poles were dying in camps too, or that they were helping your people.
That's why they're calling my country Anti-Semitic and fascist. Look once again what I've wrote about myself earlier. Could you tell from it that I am fascist or Anti-Semitic? But many of your people will call me like that just because I'm girl from Poland. I will be hated, if not treated with distance.
There is many things, I can understand. And I wrote to you just to make YOU understand many things. I've opened my heart to you, I've expressed to you my fear. So please, don't judge me and try to understand me.
Love
Susan
PS. Please, reply.
