A/N: Short drabble to get back into writing Castle. Yes, I'm working on the finale chapter of 'Call me Maybe'.
Disclaimer: I do not own Castle in any way.
''Alexis. You're home… early.'' Castle said, slowly removing his hand from under Kate's shirt. ''I- I thought you weren't coming home until tomorrow?"
''I sent Kate a text this morning saying that I would be coming home right after my test, which I totally nailed by the way. Did she not tell you that?'' Alexis said with a wondering look on her face.
He turned around slowly to look at Kate and narrowed his eyes. ''No, she did not.''
''Yes, I did Castle.'' She argued, her eye brows raised. ''Which you would have heard if you'd actually listened to me every once in a while-''
He gasped. ''I always listen to you!''
''Well. Apparently not, otherwise you would have heard me saying it this morning.'' She shot back. Castle opened his mouth to protest, but decided against it. He knew he would never win.
''Men, they're all the same.'' Alexis said while shaking her head. She walked back to the kitchen and started pulling out various ingredients. ''They say they'll do anything for you, but if it actually costs anything more than a snap of the fingers, they're out.''
''Exactly honey, which is why you should wait for as long as you can before dating. That's the best advice I can give you.''
Alexis thought for a second. ''You're right Kate, maybe I shouldn't date at the moment. School is way more important than boys.'' She said, agreeing and Castle slowly let out the breath he was holding. ''That is-'' She grabbed Kate's arm and pulled her to the couch. Castle decided against his better judgement and walked to the kitchen where he began sorting the items Alexis had just pulled out of the fridge. Once Kate thought that Castle was out of range, she began.
"Kate put on a straight face and turned back to Alexis. ''Spill.''
''Okay, so there is this very cute guy called Josh.'' Alexis began.
''Wow. No. Don't date a guy called Josh.'' They heard Castle yell from the kitchen. ''I will not allow it!''
"They laughed. ''Hey, now that guy had a six-pack-''She couldn't finish her sentence as Castle had made a sprint towards the couch and fully wrapped Kate in a breath taking passionate kiss.
''Guys. Guys. I know that you do that kind of… stuff and I'm a hundred percent okay with it, but I still don't like seeing it.''Castle moved his head into the gape of Kate's neck, laughing loudly as he heard what his daughter was saying. Kate blushed and gave Rick a gentle push to keep him from crushing her. He gave her another short kiss and then stepped away.
''Come on let's make some dinner.'' Kate suggested.
''Great idea. What are we having?'' The girls looked at each other and grinned. They stood up, walked to the kitchen and went to sit on the barstools. ''Guys? Oh come on.'' They seemed to be in deep conversation so he simply went to stand on the other side of the counter. ''Guys– I'll- Okay, I see what you're doing.'' He looked at them again, but they didn't acknowledge him. ''Fine, I'll cook. But next time one of you is the victim.'' He said, pointing a spatula between the two of them.
''See, I told you he'd fall for it.'' Alexis whispered to Kate. They clinked their glasses together and laughed.
