The night is cold and there is a little wind. However this autumn
breeze seems to move nothing. The tree branches remained eerily still in
the city of Tokyo. One man watched this as he lied on the ground. His
body oozing life from multiple stab wounds.
"Father, where are you" yells a boy. The voice is high pitched and the
man grimaces.
"Please don't let him see me" he whispers as if the gods may hear him.
"Ryouga is to young to see me like this".
As the man groans he hears footsteps. Eventually the Hibiki sense of
direction loses to the urgency to check on a family member. A young boy
runs up to the man and destroys the dying man's last wish.
"Father, what happened, are you alright" questions the boy.
"The demon is dead but I will not live to see the sun rise ever again"
says the man in a hoarse whisper. The boy breaks up in tears as his
father continues. "Be strong my young son for you are the last Hibiki in
the world". "Carry on our family traditions and live a long and fruitful
life".
"No, please stay".
"I'm sorry but my time is up". "I must ascend to the afterlife and join
your mother and our ancestors".
The man struggles to reach his son and when his hand connects with
Ryouga's he dies. The boy is shocked and begins to cry. He falls on the
body and his tears litter the ground. As he is crying the body glows
with a aura of the supernatural. In front of the child's eyes the body
glows and disappears as if it had never walked the Earth. The boy cries
more as he knows his father is truly gone since body has returned to the
heavens. In tears Ryouga falls asleep.
The next day at his house Ryouga places the last stones on his father's
shrine.
"It's next to Mother's, just like you wanted".
"I may be young but I'll become what you wanted me to be". He pauses
and then yells at the top of his lungs "the strongest person in the world
and the greatest fighter ever seen".
He cries more and drops to his knees. As he weeps he says one more
thing.
"Then I'll be able to avenge your death and the others who have died
because of this plague of darkness".
He picks himself up and gathers his pack, umbrella and the magical
Hibiki bandanna. The bandanna will give the wearer an unlimited supply
of razor sharp bandannas. However, only at death it may be removed. As
he walks out the tears dry out and he smiles.
"It is a long journey but I will not fail, I promise".
"Bye Dad".
