Crack! Lighting lit up the sky.
Sam Manson nearly jumped out of her skin. "I am 16. I should NOT be afraid of thunderstorms!" she said. She burrowed under the covers as she tried to block out the boom of thunder and the brilliance of the lightning. 'Tap, Tap' Sam looked up from her nest of blankets when she heard the tapping at the window. "Danny Fenton! What are you doing here and out in the storm!" Sam shrieked. She wasn't worried about waking anybody up because she was alone. "You get in here this instant!" Danny didn't have to be told twice. Once he had phazed into her room and changed back to human form he noticed that Sam was nowhere in sight. "First of all I am here because I know that you are afraid of thunderstorms." Danny said. He felt something rough tackle his hair. "Sam! What are you doing?" Danny asked alarmed. "Well you can't stand around all night with your hair plastered to your head from the rain." Sam answered calmly still rubbing his hair with the newly aquired towel. Danny stood still and allowed it. "Uh...Danny?" "Yeah Sam?" Danny asked. "Could you sit down please? You are taller than I am now and I am having trouble reaching you." Sam said nervously. Danny walked over and perched on her bed while Sam dried what hair she couldn't reach. Danny felt the towel move down his arms and then rub his chest gently. Slowly Sam worked the towel to wrap around his wiast. "Sam? I think we need to talk." Danny said before the towel could move to more dangerous places. "Sure Danny. What about?" Sam asked. "You know how you said we would always be friends? Well I don't want to be your friend anymore." Danny said. "Why not?" Sam asked her heart breaking. "Because that is not the way I see you anymore." Danny replied. "I see you as my girlfriend. But I fear that that will never happen. I just wanted you to know how I felt." Danny said as he stood up to leave. He felt a gentle restraining had on his bicep. "I don't see you as a friend either. Danny I love you." Sam said turning away. Danny swept her up against his chest. "You don't know how long I have wanted to hear you say that. And the truth is I love you too." Sam looked up at him with such adoration that it is a wonder she could see at all. Ever so gently Danny leaned down and kissed Sam. He then picked her up and sat down on her bed and placed her in his lap. Her head was against his chest wrapped in his loving embrace as they watched the now silent rain fall.
