I'm sitting in the very last pew keeping it together for appearance. This was the perfect wedding, the perfect people, and the perfect love. The way it should be, the most perfect, sweet, beautiful people I know up there, together at last. I mean, they'd been dating for 3 years. It was bound to happen.
"Do you, Carly Shay, take Freddie Benson to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do" she says, showing off her 36 perfect teeth. I gently rub mine and rub the plaque onto my dress feeling small.
"Do you, Freddie Benson, take Carly Shay to be your lawfully wedded wife?" this is it. The moment to make it final. The words to start their life together. The two words that'll put the final nail in my coffin.
"I…I…" Whoa. What's up with the hesitation there? And why is he looking at me? Carly notices this and looks upset for a second, then an all knowing smirk adorns her beautiful face as she pulls him close and whispers in his ear. He lights up brighter than her teeth (didn't even know that was possible) as they share a laugh and face the confused crowd. I'm on the edge of my seat, praying for a miracle, but not really expecting it.
"We're sorry folks, looks like there won't be a wedding today. Well, there will be, just not here. I mean, I'm sure there are tons of weddings in the world going on today, just not here. Well, I- "
"Ok, long story short, we're not getting married…sorry" Carly says with a sheepish smile on her face. They walk down the isle together, but this time I'm glad to see it happening. I stand when they get near me and follow them to a secluded area.
"Whoa! What happened out there guys? What's wrong? Did Frednub say something stupid again?" I ask trying to contain my smile.
"I think Freddie needs to say something to you. I'll go explain everything to our most likely angry costumers out there. I'll be back" Carly said with a smile, looking sadly at Freddie who had his head down. She left, leaving a trail of Vanilla perfume in her wake. Everything about her was just perfect. Why did Freddie hesitate?
"Sam…"
"Yeah?"
"I..I can't marry Carly. I love someone else. I love them more." my brain try to convince my stupid ultra beating heart it wasn't me, but something deep down just needed to know.
"Really? Who could you love more than your perfect Carly Shay?"
"I could love my loud, obnoxious, beautiful, outgoing, amazing best friend" he said moving closer and taking the clips out of my bun, making my hair fall every which way.
"And who would that be?" I said anxiously, I may be tough, but stuff like this always makes me nervous. Freddie wrapped his arms around my waist and I put my arms over his shoulders.
"You" he whispered, leaning in for a kiss. It was everything I imagined and more. When we pulled apart, I looked into his eyes.
"Did you just call me obnoxious?"
