Chapter 1
The Escape
"I will never join you!" Catty screamed as her father shut her door. She turned to the wall and etched another tally onto it. She had been sitting in this cell for at least six months.
I hope the others are ok. Catty thought leaning her head against the cool stone. Her amulet lay warm against her chest. Everyday her father had come into her cell and asked her to join him. Although it kept getting harder and harder to fight the dark part of her being she still responded with the same response. She would never fight for the atrox.
Catty heard soft voices outside her cell. She couldn't make out what they were saying but her body tensed. A black shadow was coming under her door. She picked up a large rock and waited for the figure to materialize.
She barely registered that two boys about her age were who had materialized. Catty swung her rock as hard as she could.
"Whoa!" one of the boys yelped as her jumped back. Catty brought her arm back for another swing.
"Stop it chica! We're trying to rescue you!" The Hispanic looking one yelled.
"Who are you?" Catty shot at them suspiciously.
"I'm Berto." The Hispanic boy said. He had dark tan skin and short black hair. He nudged the boy next to him.
"I'm Obie." He said quickly eyeing the rock. Obie was slightly taller than Berto with blond hair. He was muscular with slightly pale skin.
"Are you followers?" Catty asked slowly watching them for a reaction.
"No! Now come on." Berto said as if he had been insulted.
"Why should I trust you?" Catty said raising the rock.
"Kyle told us to come get you." Obie said. "Could you please pt the rock down."
"Are you friends of Kyle?" She asked.
"I'm and acquaintance, Obie's his friend." Berto said then gave Obie a look.
Obie turned around and a portal slowly opened. Catty walked towards it. Berto gave an exasperated sigh and shoved her through causing her to drop the rock.
