Reese was really beginning to appreciate volunteering for Sara Connor protection. He was glad the John had picked him, too. And he hadn't realized how much he would like it- learning the little things about Sara Connor. Before going back in time, he hadn't known these things. John had only told him the big things about Sara, like how she had taught him to fight, and organize. These were things Reese appreciated, that were for sure, because how would the Uprising against the machines be the Uprising if John Connor hadn't had those skills? But right now, Reese didn't care about those things. he only cared about the little things about Sara Connor; like the way her eyes flashed when she was angry or the perfect calm of her face when she slept. He discovered how her fist bunched the sheets together when she was having a nightmare and how she did everything with a perfect deliberateness when she wasn't panicking, and how she asked him to talk about his life and the future at the most random time, and how she turned a delicate green when she saw wounds. But most of all, he liked the way she looked at him when she thought he couldn't see and how her hair curled in little ringlets when she let it air dry. He liked the little things about Sara Connor, simply because they were the things that no one knew about her. Reese had fallen in love with Sara, once, when John had given him that picture of her in the car, obviously thinking about something important, something sad. It had made him curious, to know what she was thinking about, and he had made a silent resolve to ask her if he had met her. Then the picture had burned and he was sent back to protect her and he couldn't ask yet because it hadn't happened yet. Yes, Reese had thought he had fallen in love with Sara Connor through a photograph, but now, seeing all these little things about her that no one knew, Reese knew for certain he was head-over-heels for the great legend, the Mother of the Uprising, the Mother of the great John Connor. For a moment, he allowed himself to fantasize that she loved him back, and then shook himself. You're a soldier. He reminded himself. You can't fall in love with her!

But he had.

And who would have thought all it took was a photograph and a bunch of little things about Sara that were hidden to everyone but him?

Well, Reese thought to himself with a smile, the little things certainly helped.

Kyle Reese loves Sara Connor.

Who would've thought it?
