"Where are going?" She asks me seriously.
I stop walking and turn to face her. "Are you afraid I'm kidnapping you?" I put one hand on each of her shoulders.
She smiles, and looks down at her feet. "No" as she lets out a small laugh, I continue walking.
I turn around "Are you coming or what Carlin?" I ask.
"Yeah" She does a quick power walk to catch up to me. "But seriously, where are we going?" She asks me again.
"Just this place across campus this kid and I used to go smoke up at" I zip my jacket up some more.
"Wait-" She puts her arm out, forcing me to stop walking. "You're taking me to where all the stoners go?"
I am unsure what to say. I mean, no, stoners don't go there, just me and that kid but if she thinks badly of them, wouldn't that mean she sometimes thinks poorly of me as well? I force myself to answer her before she second guesses me. "No, I'm pretty sure no one even knows of this place." She eyes suspiciously. "Just trust me, okay?" I shift my weight between my left and right feet.
"Yeah, okay" She smiles at me.
"Alright then" I smile back at her and we continue on our way.
Five minutes later and we are walking some administration buildings, towards what seems like a cliff.
"Are you sure you know where you're going?"
"Yes" I assure her and reach out for her hand. I can see the silhouette of the giant fake rock. "Can I see the flashlight?"
"Sure" She hands it to me and grabs the back of my jacket.
Once I am around the giant fake rock I reach around and help her. She stumbles a bit, and when she is safely with me, she stands there amazed.
"What is it?" I ask concerned.
"Nothing, I'm just glad I didn't die"
"I wouldn't ever put you in danger" I say positively. I turn off the flashlight and sit down on the concrete and she does the same.
This place looks over the entire small mountain town we live in. "This is amazing Ash" She whispers.
"I thought so" I bite my lip.
She moves closer to me. "Thank you for bringing me out here" I can feel her eyes burning a giant whole in the side of my face, as if she is trying to figure me out.
"It's not that big of a deal. There are plenty of places that overlook this town" I say.
Unexpectedly she takes my hand in hers. "Yeah, but I want to share to share this with you" She places a butterfly kiss on my check, causing my stomach to turn.
I turn my attention to her. And for the first time, I notice how pretty her eyes really are. They are twinkling from the city lights, and the way her hair is falling on her face, is shockingly beautiful. I clear my throat and look at my knees.
"Ash" She puts her hand on my chin and lifts my face so that her eyes are looking into mine.
I swallow hard and bite my lip quickly. I lean in slightly and she does the same. Our lips are about to touch and I pull away slightly, making our noses brush. She leans in further, forcing her lips onto mine. I don't react until she kisses me a second time and then I kiss her back. I feel her tongue run along my bottom lip and I slide my tongue into hers, causing somewhat of a battle between us for dominance. And then, instead of battling, our kiss becomes more of a dance, a perfect dance. When we both pull away for air, my lips are tingling like crazy and then I notice that so is every other part of my body.
"Holy crap" I say and we both let out a laugh.
And then we are silent.
"I've wanted to kiss you for a while now" She says to me.
I smile at her. "It's always been you for me, always." I am sounding cliché, but I only speak the truth when it comes to her and me.
