Love is only a different shape of ego; it's not but a flatterer way to show possessiveness…
As I felt my robes getting damp with Himeko's tears, I analyzed carefully her words, the tone in which they were said, the feeling that backed them up… Then I knew what I must do to get it all over with…
"Himeko," I said softly as I gently parted her from me. In surprise, she looked up to me. Tears glistened like pearls in the corners of her amethyst eyes and the trails of the already fallen ones marked her peachy colored cheeks.
"You've convinced me, Himeko," I say with a smug smile. I had gotten her where I wanted…
Her face relaxed as her lips brought a smile. I stood up and Himeko followed. "Chikane-chan…" she said. The glow on Himeko's face was like the sun in spring. Such a sunny smile, such bright eyes… She was truly happy because she thought she had accomplished her goal. Little did Himeko know she was very far away from that…
I turn away from Himeko and face the open doors of the Moon Shrine. Stretching my hand, I summon my bow and arrow. I get into position and then let the arrow go towards the blue sphere that lay in front of us. "Chikane-chan!" I hear Himeko exclaim in a tone of surprise. That beautiful orb that stood in front of us quickly tinted from a clear blue to a bright red…
Laughing smugly, I look at Himeko. Her face was in total shock as she saw how all of her efforts had been in vain. "Are you happy now? Can we continue? Himeko?"
I could see all the momentaneous happiness she had gotten just a brief moment before, magically disappear from her eyes while sadness and frustration slowly started to show. Tears slid on her cheeks once more as she took a proper hold of her katana and took a swing at me.
"Yes, Himeko, yes!" I hear myself say, encouraging her to continue to try and get me. Her furious swipes, getting faster every time, were proof of the rage that was consuming her inside. I could barely avoid them, as her aim on me was getting closer. Then, I took one clean swing at her… I hit around the chest, cutting her robes and her necklace, her precious necklace with the small shell she had found as a little girl. Himeko took a step back as I stayed static watching the little, pink shell fall from her chest to the floor in slow motion. Out of nowhere, she made a blunt move and hit me square in the chest, sinking the blade in my heart. As blood spattered all over the surroundings, her sad amethyst eyes gleamed like diamonds. It was all over now…It was all…over…
