JUST A BEER

"Just a beer, that's it. To reminisce." Will offered desperately, throwing on his most charming smile as a last attempt to convince Bryan to accept.

"Fine. But it won't stop me from cutting the funding of glee." Bryan warned before stalking out of the room.

Will just smiled in triumph.

Will sighed in frustration; another minute has passed as he sat alone in the local bar. He shifted uncomfortably on the raised bar stool when a hand clapped his shoulder forcefully.

"One beer. Quick and painless." Bryan reminded Will as he took a seat on the stool next to his rival.

Will sipped at his third beer and collected himself.

"So Bryan, high school couldn't have all been bad for you." He expressed, breaking the tension.

Bryan took a gulp and hesitated before answering, "There was one good thing… but it never really worked out like I wanted."

"Oh, like the 'girl who got away'?" Will asked, suddenly feeling sympathetic for the man next to him.

Bryan stared at Will for a moment and muttered, "Something like that."

Will smirked and sloshed back the rest of his drink, a light numbing just beginning to inch in due to its consumption. He dwelled on the unattached feeling before noticing that Bryan was sprawled on the bar, sobbing into his own arms.

"I'm living a lie!" Bryan wailed, not daring to look at his former schoolmate.

Will's jaw dropped, incredulous of Bryan's current state.

"I miss the music, the dancing and even the flashing costumes." Bryan continued on, beginning to shudder dramatically.

Will reached over to comfort Bryan, but retracted when Bryan suddenly sprung up, looking straight into Will's eyes.

"No more sulking. Or- 0r- feeling bad for myself." He stated, his face stained with tear tracks.

An unexpected grin spread across Will's face.

"And… no more regrets." Bryan stated, beaming at Will.

Before Will could react enthusiastically, he felt Bryan's warm lips against his. Will was surprised by this development in their companionship, but seconds later, melted comfortably into the kiss. Bryan and Will were both shocked by the ecstasy that could accompany a simple kiss.

An approving whistle broke the two former rivals apart.

"But you're married!" Will remarked, suddenly hit with the reality of what had just occurred.

Bryan chuckled before answering: "Really, Will. Are you that thick? I mean, 'Wilma'. Could I have been more obvious?"

Will laughed, chiding his ignorance.

"So … I'm the 'girl who got away'?" He nudged Bryan teasingly.

"Don't flatter yourself. You're the 'something like that'." Bryan corrected, smiling at Will before laying one light kiss on his lips.

"What I don't understand is that if you felt this way, why did you act like such a dick?" Will asked, raising an eyebrow in accusation.

"My version of banter some seduction." Bryan responded, wiggling his eyebrows.

"You could have saved us YEARS of resentment." Will reflected, shaking his head mockingly.

"Oh you KNOW it's been fun." Bryan countered, a soft growl in his voice.

He raised one hand and placed it at the back of Will's neck affectionately. Will let Bryan guide him into another subtle but ironically revealing kiss.

Will couldn't help but chuckle as they drew back, Bryan beaming even more than before.

"You're done your drink." Will noted, nodding towards the empty glass that sat in front of Bryan.

"Gotta go." Bryan blurted, sliding smoothly off his stool.

"What?" Will exclaimed, dumbfounded.

"One drink. That's all you asked for. Guess you'll have to be more specific nest time." Bryan explained before winking as Will and exiting the bar.

Will just smirked and muttered, "Typical."
