"Sir, we've just received confirmation that the police accepted her, Vi is on the inside." said a scientist in a lab coat a little warily, unsure of how his boss would react. It was their end goal the entire time, but they'd never had quite a success as big as this to celebrate.
"What did I tell you about using that name? I don't care if our work is complete, her true name is still Six, not Vi." replied the old man, undecided as to whether he was happy at his success or frustrated with his underling's incompetence.
"I'm sorry sir, I'll remember next time."
"Good, now get back to work." The scientist left the office and the old man pulled out a cigar from the box in his desk drawer and lit it. After decades of work and experimentation, tremendous financial burden, and numerous lives lost, the sixth of the batch was finally where they needed her to be. As he sat down and swiveled his chair to look out the window, he remembered the other five of the clone group that he'd created in Zuan and the fates that had befallen them.
The first, known as One or I, had been born blind. The numerous attempts to repair this via hextech implements to circumvent the optic nerve had failed, and driven her mad. She had died on the one successful implant, at about sixteen years old. They had guessed that the shock of suddenly being able to see, along with the years of pain and madness, had terrified the poor girl, and she had ended up stabbing one of the doctors as she awoke from the anesthetics earlier than intended, grabbing the scalpel out of his hand and burying it in his chest. The poor man had died, and they executed the girl by chemical injection.
The second, II/Two, was very healthy at birth and as she grew. Unfortunately, they had to cut off her left hand and replace it with a 3-fingered hextech claw at the wrist. She'd been pretty compliant with their testing, but always took any opportunity to break the rules that seemed relatively safe. She'd once been assaulted by one of the gaurds, and pretended to go along with him then stabbed him with her claw. They had executed her by firing squad.
III, or Three, was the only male of the group, who they had used for biochemical testing, which had caused him to develop muscle degeneration and shaky hands and forearms, as well as rapidly becoming fatigued. He was still alive.
IV, Four, had her entire left arm replaced with hextech, including a fully functional five fingered hand. She had a habit of tinkering with it outside of testing, especially overnight. She used to comfort One when she'd been scared or help ease the pain that the machines put on her face and brain. The night after they'd killed One, Four had taken her arm apart until the inner vascular system was exposed, opened it, and let herself bleed to death.
V, Five, had been born with a deficiency in her heart, which caused them to replace it entirely with hextech. They had used her to test vascular flow control and growth based on different controlled amounts of oxygen being introduced to the bloodstream artificially. She was also alive.
And of course there was VI/Six, who called herself Vi. She had been born much later, after the testing had been mostly complete and their people were in position to create a controlled upbringing in Piltover, without obvious artificiality. They had successfully turned her criminal, to vigilante, and now she held legitimate power in Piltover, and soon the plan would carry on to the next stage.
